What are the negatives to having NOS? I know all the good stuff but would like to get a idea of what "could" go wrong. Stress on motor? Feel free to share, thanks

Plastic intake manifolds are a no no if using NOS. A simple backfire resulted in the above pic. Can't see using the juice on the street car.................ever.

now with all the above being said a properlly set up nitrous kit will give you years of good reliable fun just dont cheap out and dont go to big im puting an n/x kit in my 84 celica right now to test it out befor i put one in my vette and wont be going any bigger than a 75 shot unless i build the engine for a nitrous app
but yea that pic dose suck

I have heard that you should not go above 50% of your rated horsepower with boost, unless you have forged engine; For example, if you have a 300 HP un forged, then you should not get any kit bigger than 150hp boost, personally, i would go for a 75-100 HP boost for street, but thats just my opinion, it isent right or wrong, its what i researched out for my car, when you get serious, really research it out.
Try Edlebrock website, they have lots of info;

The citizens of the city I live in seem to have a way of dealing with tangibles they no longer want nor can sell. They have a fire sale. Isn't insurance wonderful. If this does not refer to you please disregard.No further attempts to contact you will be made.

wrong Air to Fuel mixture and engine goes boom
Really? How does this happen? How do you know if you have the right air to fuel mixture? I just made post about getting a small shot of NOS on my 2005 A4 C6. Is this a common problem or something that could go wrong with having NOS?

All the people believing the horror stories: do you have experience with N2O? Or just suckers who fall for the hype? What i'm saying is those of us with experience know that the fires and horror stories are extremely rare. Of the 100+ people i know with N2O, nobody has had a fire. Usually any problem is broken stock pistons from being too cheap to buy the proper equipment.

Heres how the backfires through plastic intakes actually happen. EFI intake manifolds are not meant to carry fuel, only air. So you typically do not activate a wetshot of nitrous till 3000-3500rpm. Activating nitrous at too low of an rpm results in this fuel puddling and the explosion of the intake. Nitrous is very simple to use if you understand how it works. The gas itself is not flammable. Your igniting raw fuel through the backfire that just sprayed all over fiberglass. With that in mind, for the average vette owner, I would not suggest using nitrous if you dont understand it. That said, anyone local to me actually interestested in using it I would be happy to help you out there.

Plenty. No difference on how nitrous operates whether its on a honda or a corvette.

Except how much you have to pay for when you have an oops moment!:doh:

If you are really that concerned with it then use a direct port kit. You cannot blow the intake apart with one of those.

And there you have it... infallible proof why DRY is safer than WET. You won't find a pic like that of a dry system. :ownedbutton:

:DeadHorse:I hope that's a joke. It's old news that the pic shown here was an insurance job. I just assumed everyone was aware and being sarcastic by acting like that was real.

You must not have any real knowledge of how nitrous works. A dry kit sprays nitrous only into the engine and depends on your mass air to enrich the mixture to compensate for it. You are depending on your cars computer to add fuel. A wet kit supplies its own fuel. Theres a very large difference between the two kits. You will see VERY few people spraying a small dry shot into a car because they are cheap kits. They are also junk kits on anything over about 50hp. But feel free to spray the hell out of one with a dry shot. It will catch up to you.
