Anyone have any ideas why the fuel pump in my '86 keeps running? It will even continue to run after key is removed from ignition? I just parked the car and pulled the connectors off the battery.

Thanks for the help

So when you turn off your car the fuel pump keeps going? that shouldn't happen as the power should be off to the pump.

Hello
Could be a bad fuel pump relay, If not that it's probably a bad ECM. This is if the wiring has not been modified. Have seen cars rewired so fuel pump runs with the key on, It should only run a few seconds when key is turned on to prime the system then shut off, Then when the ECM sees a cranking signal from the distributor it with power up the relay.
