: BBQ grill that looks exactly like your vette
BBQVETTE 08-01-2007, 12:59 PM Good afternoon. I'm actively producing a BBQ grill that is an exact replica of the back of a C5 vette. I'm sorry, at this time I am unable to provide a picture to a forum. The patent has been approved. The product should be in full production within 30 - 45 days.
About the grill: If you go out to the garage..because hopefully you're not letting your vette sit outside; look at the back of it. That's exactly what this grill looks like. The mold was poured from a convertible car. The trunk opens to a fully welded 14 Guage steel grill. The tail lights are fully functional AC switched lights for your enjoyment in the evening. The grills will have a bose radio inserted where the license plate of your vette is. I will be offering 4 standard color options and 1 custom option: red, yellow, black, and white standard. Custom colors are available for an additional charge. The fiberglass portion that replicates the vehicle is made out of Ultraviolet gel coat to protect against sun damage; although, a cover will be available also. The fiberglass mold is fire retardant and heat resistant to 2000 degrees. This grill has been in the making for over a year. This product is high quality in every detail. Please send me an email to pinkslipfabrication@yahoo.com if you are interested. I will be accepting a $100 dollar deposit for the first 20 purchasers. I will provide a full contract to you with a guaranteed delivery date. This grill will not only be an insanely cool looking grill but it will also cook better than any grill you've ever cooked with. All products used to produce it were used for a product result that cooks perfectly. Gas or charcoal version available. The price will range from 1700 for charcoal to 2100 for propane. This is an introductory offer. Patents are also pending for a Nascar tail gating version as well as a mustang replicated grill. YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS.
Lethal Tendencies 08-02-2007, 03:41 AM That is friggn sweet. I wish you had a pic
BBQVETTE 08-02-2007, 05:45 AM Thanks for the compliment. Especially from a senior member.
It is sweet. Of course I'm partial since I'm the one that made the grill but I think it's the coolest idea for any car crazy person. I have the grill completed so I can provide a picture. Just email me at pinkslipfabrication@yahoo.com. It's not in a finished color yet but I'll still provide pics. Roughly 45 days until I'm in full production of them.
I have hundreds of hours in producing this grill. It's right in every aspect. I really hope you guys enjoy them.
BBQVETTE 08-02-2007, 05:59 AM I'm a motor head rather than a computer guy so I hope this works. I uploaded a picture of the grill. You might have to look under my profile to see it. Sorry, I'm new to Forums.
Don't be to critical on me yet guys. I'm still actively working on the first mold. I have 10 days to finish all of the body work before it gets shipped to the manufacturer to produce the finished mold. So, you get to see it in bondo and fiberglass without any primer but this should give you an idea. There will still be changes made. Such as, the wheels on the grill portion will be changed. The one in the pic looks odd.
I've also had 5 requests to make the grill into a trailer with an axle with vette wheel options so that you can pull this behind your vette to vette shows if you'd like. Please let me know if that interests any of you.
I plan on attending as many vette events as I can so if you guys have any shows that you'd like to see this item at...please send me an email and I'll try to make those shows if I can have the product finished by the show date. I'm located in St. Louis but I'll put 5 grills on a trailer and jump in the Harley F150 and pull those things right up to your show. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hope you guys love what I'm doing.
Lethal Tendencies 08-03-2007, 01:39 PM That is unbelieveably cool.
Ed @ Late Model Speed 08-04-2007, 03:06 PM "That's Hot!"
Padon the pun, but you have an awesome product there.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to know where some of the bigger Corvette related shows would be. Too bad you couldn't have had a few of these at Carlisle, you would sell them all!
Ed
hammatime 08-06-2007, 09:32 AM That thing is awsome!! I would grill on that bad boy all the time!!
bradleyback 08-09-2007, 07:11 AM Would be interested in seeing some larger pics! And cost? Thanks
BBQVETTE 08-09-2007, 01:13 PM Thanks for the interest. I'd love to get you some larger pics, but....I've shipped the Mold to a manufacturer to start production. This grill will be available to purchase within the next three to five weeks. The first mold that comes back from the manufacturer will receive extensive safety testing that will take a few weeks, but I will update the pictures on www.BBQVETTE.com just as soon as I receive the first model back to my shop.
Sorry for the delay guys. We're really really putting alot of time into producing a long lasting "top of the line" grill that cooks as well as it looks.
I'm doing everything possible to keep the costs down so that this grill is reasonably priced. But, unfortunately it's pretty costly to produce a fiberglass mold that has a reliable gelcoat finish as well as being fire retardant. I am honoring a $1550 plus tax price to everyone that emails me at pinkslipfabrication@yahoo.com by the end of August. That is the price for a base model with working lights but without the BOSE radio. The price will not increase drastically but the gas version will be produced with quality parts that are replaceable 5 years from now if they wear out....I'll try to keep the price at $1750 for the gas version.
hollywood 08-10-2007, 08:22 AM That grill would be perfect to BBQ a Mustang, Honda or even a Nissan to perfection.:D
BBQVETTE 10-31-2007, 04:29 PM Well, it took six months to iron out and perfect it but the product is here. I've updated my avatar to show a poor quality picture of the grill. I have all 5 colors completed and I will have bbqvette.com updated within the next week. If you'd like to see the pictures just email me and I'll send you a picture.
Thanks

Now that was Funny also! Actually I just got off a 30 minute call with these folks and have to say very impressed with everything I heard. To answer your question or statement rather they will be doing something with a C6. I will be making another post a little later with more details. BTW... if this is your grill in this photo, you may want to get some shots after eating any cooked on there! LMAO!!

smokinvette 11-01-2007, 06:57 PM Did they happen to discuss pricing with you?
They did share some preliminary pricing with me, my only response was to put me on the order list! The level of detail and engineering that this team has put into these grills is certainly noteworthy. I should be getting some solid pricing tomorrow and will post price.

BBQVETTE 11-02-2007, 06:34 PM Hello to all.
This is Brian, the crazy guy that took on the task of making this thing. Just to let all of you know, I've got all of the colors close to completion now. The earlier post that Alex threw up of the pics is actually the primered one that my air brush artist is going to have his way with. The red, yellow, white, and black ones are just insane looking. The finish came out perfect. I should have the website up with pics of all of them sometime next week. We're taking orders though and these grills do come with VIN Serial numbers so don't hesitate. Email me at pinkslipfabrication@yahoo.com if you're interested in ordering. Preliminary pricing will be in the range of $1995 - $2295 depending on options. I put alot of time and energy in engineering this grill to cook as well as it looks.
Corvettes ROCK.

Great stuff Brian! That is the coolest grill i have ever seen! How long did it take you to build that? Actually what made you build that, did you wake up one day and decide to build a Corvette bbq? :D
BBQVETTE 11-03-2007, 11:22 AM Thanks for the compliment.
It took what seemed like forever. Realistically it took about 6 months to make. It didn't take that long to make the first one but it took that long to get them to the point where they can be mass produced. And I know I'm partial since it's my product but we spent about 2 out of those 6 months just testing and retesting for safety. I literally didn't use any product that was second rate. For example: for that $1995 price we're throwing in a cover that's embroidered with the customers name and the date that it was handcrafted for them and it's being embroidered on a material that is UV resistant for 10 years. It costs me about a hundred bucks just to make that cover and I'm throwing it in for free just to make sure that everyone that orders a grill will be happy with it.
Two out of the six months was spent just getting the body lines straight so that it wouldn't have any waves or imperfections.
I have patents on two mustang models and the Z06 model also so they will be available in a few months.
Again, thanks for the feedback.

Quikonesilver 11-12-2007, 01:30 PM Painted ones do look better! Amazing to begin with - that really looks REAL
BBQVETTE 11-12-2007, 07:37 PM Thanks. I really appreciate the support. I'm going to ramble but here's how the grill came to be.
This thing started out as a bbq grill for myself. I've always been a car lover. I have 5 children. My 5 month old daughter has an 02 Mustang. One of my sons has a 57 chevy truck that's pretty custom. My other son has a 68 camaro. And my middle daughter has a 2000 Harley Davidson Truck. So, for all of you that can count as high as I breed children...LOL....
That still leaves one kid out...the oldest daughter. She's getting a corvette. My wife is the best woman ever. She's not only beautiful but she allows my car obsession with very minimal complaining. But, any woman is going to say enough is enough when there's not enough room in the driveway for cars. So, she said no to the Corvette. So....I said to self....hey self, the old Weber is getting old so you should build a custom grill out of a corvette.
That's seriously how it started. Lots of people loved the idea and it ended up being a patented product that can be produced for a small amount. Ya, I've heard the comments about the price. Well fellow corvette lovers. I have an insane amount of money developing this product so that it meets the same quality as a Corvette. I have so many hours in making this thing that it would frighten most people. I had to get time in with all 5 of those kids during this process and my wife is in Nursing school so lets just say I worked on it for months from 10pm- 2am....and then went to the full time JOB. My business partner says I put my heart into this thing. I don't know if that's the truth but I definitely put some sore hands into it. So anyway, now you know alittle bit about the guy who makes these things. Now, can you people that are interested please start placing some orders. ....I have 5 colleges to pay for. LOL....hehehe.
Thanks for your time, I hope you love this thing
Smokey66 11-13-2007, 05:41 AM what is the grilling space? Size of the grill surface?
BBQVETTE 11-13-2007, 06:12 AM You have two options: 1 foot by 3 feet or 1 foot 3 inches by 3 feet 6 inches. The first option is 432 square inches which is just slightly bigger than my Weber Genesis. I put that model together for the average household because it's a more realistic size for a family. We put out the larger model for business' that cook for larger crowds. The smaller model will cook 12 Large burgers at one time.
The outside corvette fiberglass structure stays the same for both grills.
Here's something else that I disliked about my Weber that I wanted to fix on this one. Most grills only allow you to turn off 1/3 of the grill at a time. When we had large gatherings with family there was always a problem keeping food warm. So, this grill allows you to turn off 50%. This allows me to keep cooking on one side and keep the burgers warm on the other side so that new guests arriving don't get cold food.
We're talking about alot of cash here. So, I went to alot of trouble to ensure that it's a great cooking grill.
And if those two sizes don't work for you........well, you tell me what you need for cooking area in square inches and we'll custom make you one for the same price. These are all hand welded 14 guage steel structures so adjusting the cooking surface will not be a problem.
Thanks
Brian

Where are all the controls located? I have looked at your photos here and don't see where the controls are?
BBQVETTE 11-15-2007, 02:45 PM I have to give you all props. You're the very first person that asked. The controls are missing on all the models.
I wasn't sure how many of the grills would be requested as charcoal vs. Gas so we photo shot these grills as charcoal and if the first orders that come in are for propane, then we will convert them to propane at that time. I will see if I can get my web guy to load a pic of the controls onto the website within the next 48 hours.
Thanks

LOL, no kidding just noticed that myself. I love this grill you have and now a bit curious myself where will you stick the controls? Near the plate or under hood piece?
BBQVETTE 11-16-2007, 06:29 AM The controls are located under the fiberglass "trunk" lid on the right hand side. There's between 7-10 inches of space on the side of the cooking surface depending on which model you buy, so there's plenty of room.
Check this out though. We're currently trying to make the ignitor work via a street rod key switch. You'll turn the key one direction for the electric ignitor and the other direction to turn on the lights. For now it's still using a push button ignitor but hopefully we'll have that little perk worked out before we ship the first one.
Thanks

Do you have any photos of the control panel? And is there a warranty on this grill?
BBQVETTE 11-26-2007, 11:48 AM Hi, I still have the grill at the testing facility. Pics of the control panel should be available on www.bbqvette.com within the next two weeks.
Warranty: The grill will come with a 12 month replacement money back guarantee if you're not completely satisfied with this product. I also used parts for the Propane portion that are easily replaceable so you will be able to order any replacement parts directly from me if the burners should fail even five years after your purchase. This grill isn't made in Taiwan. Word of mouth is everything for us. If you have your grill in 7 years and the burner is worn out and the part isn't available.......I will ensure that other options are available. WE CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.
This is alot of money to spend on a grill. A 12 month money back guarantee is much better than most grill manufacturers but please be advised that we are sincerely working very hard to ensure that the final product lasts many many years.
Aces 4 Me 11-29-2007, 05:47 AM I not a BBQ'er but that is creative work there pal.

10speed 11-30-2007, 05:32 AM ha ha ha, that is so cool! Its the fastest grill in the states!
01SuperfastVette 12-14-2007, 07:29 AM I came across this post three weeks ago. I was nervous to buy one of these guys grills because of the cost but I did it. The grill arrived yesterday and this thing is sick. The pictures on this guys website don't do this thing any justice. The grill came with a sweet cover that has my name embroidered on it. There's polished aluminum diamond plate all over the thing. Absolutely awesome. Kudo's to Pink Slip Fabrication for putting out a very nice product for us Vette lovers. I cooked on this thing last night and it was only the first time but this thing retains heat better than my Ducain that I've loved for years now.

2000Vette 01-18-2008, 05:46 AM OMG thats pretty damn cool. What sucks is the finish on that grill looks better than mine, I'm new here so time to make a post about getting swirl marks out of paint.

The new avatar photo they have up looks really nice. I agree the *** end of my car does have the shine this BBQ does! Man I need to get some Zaino!
BBQVETTE 01-21-2008, 10:08 AM Thanks for the compliments. Okay, I have a decent amount of money in making each one of these grills. I'm not a large corporation. I'm just a car loving guy that likes to fabricate things so I need help pricing this thing.
If I bottom dollared the price and set the price at 1995 for a full blown propane with all the bells and 1795 for a charcoal version...........is this a price point that you'd pay if you're shopping for a BBQ grill?
I showed it to a Corvette Club locally and asked for assistance pricing this and they told me 2495-2695 depending upon charcoal or propane. Can you please drop a post and let me know the price you'd be willing to pay for this grill if you were in the market?
This discussion has nothing to do with what you'd pay if you contacted me and mentioned seeing this on Smokinvette. I'll give a special price to anyone that contacts me and mentions smokinvette. I'm just looking for a standard price point without any discounts.
Thanks in advance,
Brian
