How hard is it to install your own supercharger? I don't feel like paying someone for the install if its just a time and elbow grease. A friend was telling me on his GTO he did the install and just brought the car into shop for tune. Saved at least few thousand in installation. I don't know what supercharger yet, most likely either Vortec or Magnuson.

It varies drastically..

It really depends on the kit itself, and your mechanical capabilities. Depending on the F/I, 1500 is about average.. But it can go down by a few hundred, or go up by a grand depending on the shop and the F/I. Some shops charge extra just because they feel their ***** doesnt stink. Some shops charge great rates, and have excellant service.

I've seen guys cause 1500 bucks worth of damage in a matter of hours. Its a tedious and time consuming job, that is best left to the professionals.

That being said, if your good with tools, have a good set of tools, and are not afraid to tear into your car, it can be rewarding.

The question is, is your time worth more or less than 1500 bucks? If it is, and you screw it up, are you gonna be able to fix it, or are you gonna have it flat bedded over to your local shop. Cause when that happens, the bills gets expensive REAL fast.

Investment like what a supercharger cost, personally I would have a professional do the work. How crappy would that be, supercharger ruined and you messed up motor also?

:iagree: Good advice. Personally I would sleep better at night nowing someone who 100% knew what they were doing.

:iagree: I second that one, after that size of investment.

I was quoted much more than $1500 for install! I'm tracking you down when that day comes.

sept 11. I'm moving right along. Crank is pinned, S/c bracket is on
ready to mount. Intercooler ready to mount. Pcm is going to Andy in the morning by mail.
Very nice kit and I was able get Andy today with a install question.
See the A&A Corvette website it has the instruction's
for you to look at. You decide if you can!:burnout:

I had mine done at a local speed shop, and was charged way to much many thousands, many, many. So basically check the history and reputation very well before getting the install done if you do go with someone else. And getting it in writting would be nice too. Just my opinion.
