I think it is on the rails and the pumps are the only things in the tanks, that would be my best position on this subject!

Its on the fuel rails. You can change that yourself.

Most intake fuel pumps have filters on them.So maybe the parts counter guy thought you were referring to that or maybe some where there is a village missing there idiot.:D I mean some of these parts guys are not that bright
