: KB Boost A Pump
TeeBone 08-04-2008, 07:34 AM Some have told me this would be considered a short cut to upgrading the fuel system and others have said it would be just fine. No forced induction here, so would I benefit by installing a KB boost a pump and install larger injectors and get a fresh tune? Would I get more power from this? Great fuel + more air should equal more ponies right?
Jeff2000 08-04-2008, 12:09 PM If you have logged your vehicle, and it is showing an increased drop in F/P, or high injector duty cycles, then yes, a BAP works great.
But to add it, just to add it, will do nothing for you at all.
Your fuel system is regulated to roughly 58psi. The BAP wont change that. All it does is increase the fuel pump voltage in order to keep up with additional demand, or to aid in fighting against boost pressures.
Regarding injectors. Again, if their not necesary, you will see ZERO benifit, and in some cases, a decrease in part throttle driveability, idle control, and fuel mileage.
You select your injectors off of your motors demands. By just increasing injector sizing, you will not spray any more fuel than your current injectors. Why? Because in order to make your injectors cycle properly, you need to then adjust you IFR (Injector Flow Rate) tables back to the point at which your car will run properly. So in essence, you will have spent money, and gotten no further than you are right now..
ALL of this goes out the window if you have modified your vehicle beyond the stock fuel systems capabilities. But if its stock, I rather see you put the money in an area that will actually help, not hurt. That being said, if you DO need injectors and a KB BAP, let me know. I'm a distributor.
I would just feel better knowing im helping YOU, and not just adding to my bottom line..

Hey thanks for the 411, so much for that would have been nice to get some HP or better fuel mileage! Guess more dollars saved for something big! :patriot:

Eurorod 08-16-2008, 10:09 AM Keep in mind the the KB BAP is designed to add volatge to the fuel pump when the engine is under boost. I think if you ran it constantly on a na engine, the life of the fuel pump would be short lived.
