What is a good intake for the C5? I want one that will give me a good range of torque with HP. Also does anyone really recomend porting it out? Thanks alot

K&N is also a very good setup but either way get it ported and polished as it will give you a good portion more performance!

Just port your stock one, it will give you similar results and it will save you a nice bit o' cash!

See if you can utilize a LS6 intake and then port it out and that should be a nice improvement from what you have now.

If your car is a '99, then you would see about 10 RWHP from upgrading to an LS6 intake manifold, I would also recommend a Donaldson Blackwing air filter, which would be good for another 10 RWHP or so.

If you ported your stock one, you **might** see 5 RWHP

Feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions,
Ed

You have to take the manifold off first because its gonna be cheaper that way then bore it out about .250 then port and polish then hole thing. You would also need to a bigger throttle body and better air intake system to get max power from that ported manifold. Take it off your self then take it to a machine shop should cost around $80-$120:cool:

Since it's a plastic manifold, and the design of the ports makes it hard to get in very far to port it, the most I have been able to do is portmatch all 8 intake ports to the same size as the ports in the head, and also portmatch the trottle body opening. I normally charge $100.00 for this when you send me your intake, but that by itself is only worth a couple HP. I do that on every engine that I build as part of my standard combination.

Hope this helps,
Ed

What do you think of the Vararam?

it really depends what you want, I have the dual K&N and its great, but the black wing is hands down the best, the varam is really good too. any of those 3 is good. they all open up the breathing so there all pretty comprable. i would suggest upgrading from the filters do the intake manifold thats what im working on, i only have throttle body and intake manifold left to replace and ill have picked up some serious hp right there.

What do you think of the Vararam?

The Vararam is a really good piece, it's hard to measure the true improvement, since it is a true ram air design. It shows the same improvement as others(typically 10-15 rwhp) on the dyno, but on the track, it's worth 3-4 tenths in a 1/4 mile. This is due to the Vararam flowing much more air into the engine as the velocity of the car increases.

They offer a few different levels of filters, standard cotton gauze filter, to a piece of foam. The less restricting filters offer better flow(more power) but less filter protection.
Hope this helps,
Ed
