I was just wondering if anybody knows what will happen when the CTS goes bad in a 84 CFI? My code says I need one and it will be changed, but I was wanting to know first if it would fix the problem. The car stutters at any take off.

I am not an expert but I would assume that if you purchase a new one that should take care of it if that is the only thing wrong with your Vette.

9 times out of 10 when you replace what is said to be wrong the problem will go away, and then another one will take it's place!! lol

It can make one hard to start cold OR hard to start hot--depending on how it has failed-----can make the car run lean OR rich once again depending on how the sensor has failed internally--if you had a graph with different coolant temps and ohm readings for the tempertures-- you could check the sensors accuracy----BUTTT I'd only do that sorta testing if I was chasing a difficult problem---in your case if the ECM "sees" it as a fault---I'd simply replace it----I guess it's possible if the sensor had failed "lean" it could create what you describe as a "STUTTER"

Thank you I have replaced it and it has all the power back, but like one of you said I ran into another problem. After running it on a hwy for about 30-40 min when it is time to let off the gas and stop and then start on my way it starts to act like it has no gas and euther stalls or runs like it only has 3 cylinders. Waiting awhile and starting it again it is fine and I sart the process all over again.
