Now we will dive into a speaker install I just did in a 2008 Z06 for a friend of mine, Jason Hunkler, in Palm Beach, FL. Here is the Z06:

This install is fairly straight forward, but depending on where you put the crossovers for the component speakers, the wiring can be a little more involved than what you may be used to... I put the crossovers in a custom made amp rack/ sub box combo specifically made for the C6 Z06, and ran the wires into the door for each speaker.
The picture below shows the speaker wires exiting the grommet in the door. NOTE: While the door panels are removed, take the time to add sound deadening to the doors... Jason installed Dynamat on the inner skin of the door, and I installed BlackHole SEAL on the outer skin of the door, behind the speakers...

NOTE: This thread will be modified to include pics of how you remove the door panels once I get home and can upload the pics from my home computer. :smack:

After removing the door panels, you mount your speakers to some custom made door speaker plates, as the factory speakers are close to a 10" driver. I custom make my own, as that is what I do, and I make them to utilize the factory OEM mounting bolts, which are 7mm in size. There are 4 of them. Installation is fairly straightforward... remove the old speaker, and don't cut off the factory plug in case you decide to sell the Vette for a better one... :)
The picture below shows the completed speaker installed... It is a Dynaudio 8" midbass driver, which is part of the System 362 set. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SOUND!!!!!!

Next, you want to mount the midrange driver & tweeter, which in this case is a 3" soft dome mid from Dynaudio, and a 1" soft dome tweeter from Dynaudio. These are part of the System 362 system.
I do sell these speakers, as I am a dealer for their products... (a bit of shameless self promotion... :D )

Make sure the wiring is sure, and use some quick disconnect connectors so that if you need to remove your door panel for any kind of maintenance, you won't have to cut your speaker wires... the photo below shows the mid and tweet installed.

If you'll notice, the tweeter is not the highest mounted driver... that is done on purpose. After multiple tests on mounting placement for drivers in the C6 Corvette, I have found this set-up to be the most dynamically pleasing of all the different ways to do the install, including in your a-pillars. This mounting is simple, utilizing a piece of backstrap mounted to the tweeter, and the door, and it provides a quick, strong mounting point for the tweeter...

Let me tell you, THE IMAGING IS INCREDIBLE!!!! The whole front soundstage sounds as though it is on the hood of the car, extending well beyond the interior confines of the car. I have also done an Eclipse 3 way setup this way, and it sounds great as well... (pic below)....

but, the Dynaudios are the best!!! (yes, I sell both Eclipse and Dynaudio, as well as Focal, CDT audio, etc.) The picture below shows the view through the grille...

Installation of the door panel is the reverse of the removal, and is a quick and easy way to get better sound than the BOSE setup that comes from the factory.

The photo below shows the completed install, looking at the grilles...no, I didn't dent the grilles... that was another install shop will which go unnamed... needless to say, the new speakers blend seamlessly into your Corvette, and sound great!!!
