: My Clutch Recommendation!
ShockerRacing.com 07-10-2007, 07:48 AM I just installed the Ram Dual Disc Clutch in my 05 Corvette and I love it!!! It grabs nicely without being too stiff or too grabby. They say that with twin disc clutches you get a lot of chatter, and I did have chatter during the break in period but the chatter is pretty much gone now that I have put over 500 miles on it. So far it is definitely worth the $1100! We will see how it holds up to my 5000rpm dumps at the drag strip!!! The stock clutch did not appreciate that very much:D !

LOL, The first thought when reading this was "yeah nice but what about the chatter?" Well you answered that really quick! Let me ask you this seeing that obviously your a dragger, if I don't go to the track (drag) do I need a dual disc?

Well no racing that I really need to be posting on this site! But I was just never satisfied with the stock clutch and was thinking of going aftermarket and I would hear, "get a dual clutch with full pucks" and statements like that. But as you can probably tell I really don't know the proper application for each set up. So I guess I just don't want to go too much if I don't need it! Thanks
ShockerRacing.com 07-11-2007, 06:55 AM If you are just interested in a stiffer clutch without going too stiff, I would look into the Ram HD single disc clutch. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=459&catid=59 This clutch is pretty cheap and you can have your stock steel flywheel resurfaced. I have helped two of my friends put this clutch in their C5 Vettes and they both are happy with the clutch. Otherwise if you would like to go with a twin disc the Ram Dual Disc that I put in was only $1100(I say only because it is cheap for a Twin Disc) and this clutch came with a new flywheel! Does your car have much done to it power wise?

Thanks, I like the look of the single disc. As of right now I don't have any mods (engine wise) but I plan on getting the normal bolt ons in the future and I have heard that it is good to beef up the driveline also.

Hey shocker have you heard of "Clutchmaster"? My freind has ordered one of their stage 3 clutch rated up to 600rwhp and he paid like $1200+ for it.
ShockerRacing.com 07-17-2007, 09:31 AM I have heard of them but I have no experience with their clutches. The clutches that I have had experience with are Ram, Centerforce, Spec and Textralia. I am really impressed with Ram and Centerforce(multiple experiences with both and no issues). My buddy used a Textralia in his F-Body and unfortuneatly got a defective one so he had to get a new one but their customer service was great and got him a new one asap! I have had a lot of experience with the spec stage 3 clutches and my opinion is that they are junk!

I have Clutchmasters stage 4 and it is a dual disc where as the 3 is a single, both very nice the 3 is a bit quiter and the 4 has a little chatter to it but not too bad in my opinion.
