Radioflyer97's How-To Post #12: DC-AC power inverter install.

Originally had a 400w power inverter in my truck as more of a "just in case" thing. I find that it's very effective in powering laptops and other small electronics. I found that Bolting it to the outside of the passenger footwell makes a good spot for it. It's close the battery and easily accessible without being in the way.

Most power inverters have some kind of plate on the bottom that's removable. Drill 4 holes in it and place a bolt/nut through it with the nut on the outside. Then drill matching holes on the plastic on the passenger footwell panel and use a second set of nuts to bolt the inverter to the plastic.

Wiring is simple:
Depending on the wattage, you'll probably need somewhere between 12-8 ga wire for power and ground. Mine is a 400 watt inverter and i'm using 10 gauge power and ground. Run the power wire as you would an amp power wire through the gromment in the passenger firewall to the underhood fusebox main power terminal. The nearest ground is one of the passenger seat mounting bolts.
