Radioflyer97's How-To Post #9: Amp installation on the rear wall.

This setup is ideal for cars with center-bin subwoofers however is limited to the type of amp used. I first attempted it with a Rockford T3002 and it was simply too tall. I'm Now using a JL500/1 slash series and it fits perfectly. Most medium size amps with side terminals will fit this area.

You'll need to remove the latch panels and the rear center panel:

Next, take a 3/4" slab of MDF and cut it down to the size of the rear center panel. Drill 4 mounting holes for bolts and counter sink them to allow a smooth top finish when the bolts are in place.

Remove the license plate and reverse light assembly ((2) flathead and (4) torx 15 screws) This will give you adiquate working room.

Mount the mounting board against the wurface of the rear wall using 3M mounting double bak tape. (this will hold it in place while you drill) Next drill through the same mounting holes you originally drilled going into the rear panel. (Don't worry, you've got like 8 inches of "oh ****" space before you hit the rear bumper itself)

Mount the board with the bolts using large washers and lock washers on the backside and the largest washers that will fit in the counter sunk holes on the front side. Check to see that its sturdy..

Next replace the rear carpet panels you took off. Using duct, masking or painters tape, place a piece over the general area of where the amps mounting holes are.

Hold the amp in the exact spot you want then use a sharp probe to poke a hole in the tape where you want the mount to be. You can choose to use wood screws or another set of mounting bolts that go all the way through. I decided to use both. (bolts on top, screws on bottom) If you go with screws, make sure to use a corse thread pitch.

For bottom-terminal amps like the JL slash series, you'll need to run your wires and connections first. Make sure to set all your controls as well. You'll have to remove the amp each time you want to change the settings, but while it's mounted, it cleaner than a side-teminal amp.

Drill your pilot holes and mount the amp:
