Okay, for now I'm going to post a video that shows my results. Here are a couple of things that will help anyone trying to do this install:

1. A weak or dead battery will cause all kinds of erratic operation! If you lights stay up when you turn them off, then your battery is the culprit. I know, I've been in the garage all night and proved it to myself. Any erratic operation will be caused by this or...

2. Bad grounds! Make sure your grounds are clean and solid. This will cause stuff to simply not work. Lights not coming on is the main thing you will experience because of bad grounds.

Here's the video. The headlights flashing when I turn off my lights was caused by my battery being weak, I think. When you do this install, start your car before turning on the lights. That way you won't kill your battery. I've got plenty more to add and will do so tonight.

Okay, here's how I routed my harness. First off, keep in mind that this harness is designed for replacing your high and low beam stock harness. Thus, the connectors on the harness are the 9005/9006. Since I am using this harness to replace my stock low beam and fog harness, I needed to change the fog connector on the passenger side of the car to the 9005 type connector. It will make more sense when you see the pictures, but especially if you go to do this.

I changed the ground connectors on this harness because the grounds that came on it had small eyelets. I went with a bigger eyelet. If you have to extend your harness, use 14 gauge wire.

Lots of pictures!

Hopefully, this will help someone. The harness install looks kinda daunting at first, but if you look at post #22, it should help you out. The hard part is making it look neat but maybe this thread will take out some of the work. Pay no attention to my dusty engine. The hood has been up for a month while I was doing all this stuff. The weather hasn't been Corvette friendly so she just sits in the garage. :(

Happy HID'ing!

Check out these pictures of my HID's The first is a shot of my fog lamps only. They are so bright that I can drive at night with only the fogs on and still see the road.

The second pictures is with the low beams on. You have got to get HID's if you haven't already!

The Big Fix!
Now, for anyone who was experiencing the problem where your headlights would only raise if you turned the stalk twice, or your lights would only go down 50% of the time, here's the fix.

You will need to purchase a 194 bulb (buy a couple as they break easily), and a holder for that bulb. The total cost will probably be less than $10. For those of you who just have the HID's installed without this harness, see the bottom of this post.

On the driver's side headlight, the low beam plug is no longer being used for anything (like I said, only if you have done the HID setup as I have using the powered cable). That plug has two wires, one black (ground) and one brown (+12 volts). You will connect the brown wire of the 194 bulb holder to the brown wire of the old low beam connector. The black wire of the bulb holder will be connected to ground. I used one of the 3 13mm bolts that hold the headlight assembly in the car. They are screwed into the beam that GM uses for ground on the Vette. Now for the pictures:

WORDS OF CAUTION!!!

Some of you are going to attempt to do this with the power to the headlight motor connected (which is crazy) because as you get to working on this fix, you'll forget that the motor is plugged up. As you get to fooling around with this and testing the repair, you might forget about the built in time-out that happens when you leave the lights on while the engine IS NOT running. Once that time out happens, the headlights WILL CLOSE. If you have you hand down in that cavity, get ready for pain like you ain't never felt! I have read post from members who said that they cried like school girls when it happened. If you are by yourself, hopefully you will know how to reach around (if possible) and turn the knob to raise the light. I chose not the plug up the power to the headlight motor until my hands were no where near that headlight cavity.

Here's how to manually raise or lower the headlights:

Familiarize yourself with this before you get to messing around in that cavity. If the headlight is chomping on your fingers, this is NOT the time to be trying to remember where this knob is or which way to turn it! I always choose to remove the entire assembly when doing this much work on the headlights. Most guys are not going to go through that much trouble.

For those of you who have HID's installed but not the powered cable, this fix will work for you also. You can still splice into the same wires, or choose a point that is electrically the same as what I have chosen. I just don't have any pictures to show you.

This has been a slight aggravation to some of us and especially those of us who like using the twilight feature. I tested it all night while cruising and every time I exited the car, the headlights worked just like they did when stock. So twilight users, you're back in business!

Boys and girls, IT WORKS! http://pc-surgeon.net/images/cforum/smileys/woohoo.gif

Here's a video that shows the difference you get by upgrading to HID's. The video starts out with my high beams on and then I switch to my HID's. Talk about a no-brainer!
