I'm going to pick up a CAI and am on the fence between Honker (Callaway) and the Snake Charmer (Vararam). Any sort of tips, advice, experience would be appreciated!

Thanks everyone - Jerry

They will both perform well and I believe they are similar installs, I would make my decision based on which look you like better and where you can find the best price. I have a lot of experience with the vararam and have never installed the Callaway, though. If you go with the Vararam here is my install write-up:

Nice install write up!!! I have a black wing right now and I was looking at going with either the Vararam or the Breathless Vortech.

They are both nice intakes, and I had the breathless on my C5 ZO6 but I just can't justify the price! That is why I would choose the Vararam over it. I actually have the halltech(got it for $100 used on ebay) on my car but I have installed about 5 Vararams on peoples cars.

Yes the breathless was a bit pricey but ultimately I feel that really any aftermarket CAI will be night and day compared to a stock one!

That is exactly why I chose to only spend $100 on the Halltech rather than $350 on one of the others. I really like the Vararam but when I was in the market for a CAI I was planning my wedding and on a bit of a budget!!!

I wont argue with that! Your priorities are intact! I am all for finding a deal on ebay or anywhere but at that time nothing too great was availible so I just bought new. I would actually like to try the Vararam as the concept really intrigues me. Take it easy!

I have the "The Snake w/ a spacer for the Mass. I have no regrets, you really start to notice the extra power when the car continues to go faster. The more air you can force up that unit, the better it pulls well into the triples......Not that I would know:rolleyes: ck, I also had a Halltech, very nice unit.......
good luck
