I have just purchased a 1984 vette with 61,000 mi. The mufflers have been replaced, pipes getting a little rough. I am considering new pipe, taking converter off. Any imput would be appreciated if there would be a problem with rough idle, etc... Open to any ideas to improve performance. Thanks. Gary

Try Power effects .com , That is what I have on my vette & they have a very aggressive sound to them, plus they set your car apart from most other vettes.

i guess you could try midamericamotorworks.com....checkout the C4 pipes and if you have the sortwhere on your computer you could even hear what they sound like....then check out summitraceing.com for a cheaper price on the samething....

I would be careful about removing the converter. Car may sound good, but your performance might be affected. I would consider a free flow converter. You might want to read some of the articles pertaining to the 84 Corvette before making this decision. I have an 84 also that I am working on. I will be making this same decision. Good Luck.

Remove the converter it will be a major difference in performance. You can get a test pipe frome ebay, its a direct replacement and costs about $50. I went with a 3" rear y-pipe and B&B mufflers on my 85 and on my 84 I put a random technology's converter and walker rear y-pipe with crossover and muffler eliminators. both sound good and both increased performance.:thumbsup3:

I went with the Corsa cat back and headers. Just go on youtube.com and type in a search and listen to the different vettes until you see and hear what you like. Jegs had the cheapest Corsa system for my setup. Good luck.

I had the cat taking off to have true duals and then when they came side by side where the cat was. I had a 6 in. or so pipe put in for a H pipe creation then ran straight back no mufflers only to rectangle tips. the custom H pipe gave me enough back pressure to get better performance and sounds real nice to me.

:iagree: :iagree: They also make Side Effects, the side pipe conversion for the C-4's

My 84' runs great without cat & K&N filter installed, vast improvement in performance and driveability. Stock mufflers, milage also in 60's, nice rumble, plenty of low end. Nothing exotic nor costly, lots of bang for low bucks. A tired ignition system would be hard to overcome with these simple tricks or any other improvements, I'd be sure to start there.
