I'm thinking of adding the two rollbars (one behind each seat) in my '02 convertable. I spoke with a guy up at BG during the C5-C6 bash in KY in April. He could put them in for about $400 there. I'm hoping to find someone that can put chrome ones in and weld them to the frame not jut bolt them. What do you guys think. Any such animal? Tom

A word of caution. Most roll bars are good for bling and nothing more. Be very careful who installs them and confirm they are a reputable installer with race experience.

If your doing it for safety, your life could be depending on the roll bar and that's not a good place to save money.

No kidding, not an area you want to cut corners if its indeed for safety reasons!

To expand, the only safe protection in a roll over situation is a non-street legal 6 point roll cage. That's what going in the track car I'm building. A simple roll cage doesn't provide side/door protection and doesn't provide protection for a front end impact.

If you go inverted or hit a wall going fast, I wouldn't want to be in a car without a full cage. There is no way to safely drive a cage on the street. They are not DOT approved and you need to have a helmet on, else the cage could prove lethal if your forehead hit one of the struts without head projection.

Well said, I really don't have to elaborate on that as he has covered it very well!!

A good roll cage job will be costly, or atleast this is my experience, but you get what you pay for in life so don't cut corners on something that is there to save your life!!

Well said. A good 6 pt cage is probably $5000+ installed. Worth every penny!

Hey if you are in the SoCal area I have a friend that had his roll cage sone by a guy that is next to that Hadad motorsport place. It looked very nice and most of all it was nice and snug. I am actually thinking of getting into alittle bit more aggressive drag racing and will look at getting a roll cage!
