Will changing the gears void my warranty? I would like some new snap for 1/4 mile and have been eyeing some new gears. If factory warranty becomes void what have others done? Pay  for additional warranty through 3rd party??? Thanks All!

If you bought a Hypertech Power tunning programer that wont void your warrenty. The good thing is it saves your stock settings so you could change it anytime back to stock and load a diffrent program..You can tune rear axle ratios,160-180 degree thremostat, shift point firmness, tune speedo to tire sizes, ect. The thing is every Corvette now comes ready to run from the factory stock so if you try to change to many things you can de-tune your car if you arent careful.Or you could go with a computer chip but those are for heavly moded cars but once you put the chip in your stuck with it unless you want to rip it out or re-program it.This should help 1/4 ET a little bit but the best thing you could do it get a set of drag tires.Maybe some MickeyThompsons or some BFGooodrichs would be nice and provide the most nocticable improvement in ET overall up to 1 sec it not more...

Changing your gear will obviously void the warranty on the rear end itself. So if something were to happen to the rear end it would obviously not be covered. As for it voiding the warranty on the rest of the car it is very unlikely that a dealer would ever know that it was in there. A lot of it comes down to your service writer at the dealerships. If they are cool they most likely wont give you a problem unless it is obvious that you have been beating on the car.

In the meantime I wouldn't go riding or driving another Vette with aftermarket gears in it as you will get hooked almost imediately! Well that is what happened to me! LOL
Hollywood, is that tuner your refering to similar to the Diablo? I am not familiar with it.

I actually asked my dearlership about gears because it was the one thing that I really wanted to do and they told me that they would not cover the whole rear end!!! Does that sound right?

That is correct, they technically should not cover anything that is effected by modifying the rear end. Which includes the housing, half shafts, etc...

A friend will lend me his Hypertech programer. I love my o6 vette but am not a savy car guy (but I would love a bump in power.) Have you used one and any thoughts?

If you have a 6spd manual, no programming is necessary. Auto's are a different story though.
