: First Mod?
armybrat06 06-18-2007, 07:25 AM Hey everyone, first of all I like this site, tons of cool pics to look at and get ideas from. What would be everyones first choice for a mod?? I have about $1500 to spend so keep that in mind. Thanks and I look forward to hearing back from you all!
ShockerRacing.com 06-18-2007, 02:03 PM With $1500 I would decide between two choices:
1- Buy a Vararam CAI and a B&B Catback exhaust
or
2- Buy a set of headers and x-pipe
smokinvette2 06-18-2007, 03:31 PM I agree with the above statement, headers and catback or cold air intake are all relatively inexpensive mods that you will notice a nice pick-up in performance. Good luck with your choice!
armybrat06 06-18-2007, 03:34 PM Just wanted to say thanks for the quick replys!! I will do a little research and go from there. I like the sounds of the headers and catback as I would like a louder Vette!!! Any suggestions on what brand of headers? Thanks again!
smokinvette2 06-20-2007, 07:11 AM I personally like Kooks as I am running them now and I have the B&B Bullets. Now this is pretty loud so if your not into the real loud exausts then I would look at maybe the Corsa Touring catbacks. Either way with the LT your sound will get louder anyway you cut it. But if you get a mild catback you will atleast be able to carry a conversation while driving!!

Great recommendation, I agree! Perhaps through a custom tune in also!
ShockerRacing.com 06-20-2007, 11:47 AM I am a huge fan of the B&B exhausts, although I have yet to use their headers but I have heard good things!

Wasn't aware that B&B had headers, I knew they had the exhaust. Do you have any idea how they fair up to LG, Kooks or American Racing?
Pete
smokinvette2 06-21-2007, 06:42 AM I will say right now that this next statement is my humble opinion!! I like Kooks because that is what I am running, now I have read up enough to say that the general consensus is that LG puts out one of the best headers on the market. I have yet to hear anything bad about them. Wait until SHOCKERRACING answers as they are more the experts!! Either way I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
killerB 06-26-2007, 08:32 AM If you don't plan on going too crazy with your Vette but you want a little more "go" then just do what everyone here is telling you to do!! A Cold air and exaust setup will give you that extra power and you won't spend too much!
ShockerRacing.com 06-26-2007, 12:22 PM Again, I have not used the B&B headers. I really only have experience with Kooks and LG(both very nice headers) I was just simply saying that I have been a big fan of their catbacks for a while now and would imagine that they put out a nice header as well. I have actually been thinking about trying the B&B headers only because my two good buddies who have C6's have the LG and the Kooks so I thought I might try something different.
armybrat06 06-28-2007, 10:50 AM I have ordered the Vararam intake and the Corsa sports. I went over my original budget by a little but I feel that I will be happy with this set-up!!!:D
ShockerRacing.com 06-28-2007, 01:06 PM Good choices! Here is my install write-up for the Vararam: http://www.shockerracing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1789, there are some very helpful tips to help you avoid damaging your AC Condensor during the install!!!
My buddy ran an 11.9 with his 2007 C6 6spd that had the Vararam, Corsa Sports, Headers, and some Mickey Thompson Drag Radials!!! Not a lot of mods to get into the 11's!!!
