I just installed some new roller rockers on my 96 Corvette LT-1 with a 1.6.1 ratio. Over the stock 1.5.1 ratio or should I say the real ratio 1.4.5. The stamped steel rocker arms leave a lot of room for false readings. I went with the GM performance parts aluminum roller rockers from ecklerscorvette.com; price $400:D.I also used the thickest valve cover gaskets that I could find to avoid clearance issues in order to keep the stock valve covers. The local racing shop charged me $250 for labor and it took 3 hours to install.I took the drive home real easy, the motor sounded quiter and ran smoother. I changed the oil later that day because with removal of the old gaskets which was so messy. So who no's what drit and particals fell into the system.Afterwords I warmed up the LT-1 real good. I took her around the block. When the road was clear with no other cars in view I put my foot to the floor real slow at first the acceleration was unreal up to 85mph and well after; the speedo was skipping numbers well past 100mph in 3 and 5mph gaps. I didnt take it any faster then that but there was alot more pull in reguards to top end. That was at least a 20-30 hp gain in top end alone I'm guessing, It was worth the money:) This mod should fit 1987-1996 Corvettes with 86L-98 with L-98 and LT-1 engines with no problems at all.

Thats a great gain, so about $650 investment and you picked up nearly 30HP? Have you brought this to dyno?

I did a 1.6 roller rocker conversion on my l98 and it felt the same just that the torque band shifted up. On consulting the guru it turned out to be a waste of time. The increase in lift helped upper rpm tq but with and intake manifold setup that runs out at 4500 (TPI) It was kinda pointless. So i went back to 1.5 on the exhaust rockers. Picked my low end back up. The intake was already well over loaded with a 383 w/215 cc intake runners and a wide lsa cam. But good god it had torque.

Not bad at all, have you seen anything yet that would be considered a negative?

No real "negatives" yet. I just shifted the peak torque.
