I'm considering building up another engine to drop into my '05 C6. Any ideas where and how much a stock C6 or Z06 engine will run? If I can find a Z06 engine will that line up to my transmission I currently have? Thanks

Don't know anything about the LS7 engine, not too long ago on ebay was a LS2 engine for around $3500 with under 10k miles on it. Thats a good idea! Build up another motor and swap it out.

A LS-7 427 Runs about 15k with 525hp and a LS-2 runs about 5-6k new.A ZR-1 motor runs about 15k-26k new. The stock trans should go fine with the LS-7 but as for the others I have no clue...But why get a new motor for your 05-C6 its still new just get the heads machined, port polished, headers, and a vortech Zo6 intake. Now thats cheaper then a new engine..With all this thats at least 70hp with tons of torque......

I agree with the last post. Easier than buying a new crate LS7. Probably your best move.

That said if you want to go "nuts" on a NA engine, I would consider buying the new Warkhawk 454 engine block and building an engine w forged components. It will fit in you C5 or C6 and is a superior block to the LS7. I am installing that system in a track only car I am currently building. The engine will cost approx $16,000 and generate approx 600-650 hp with huge low end torque. See link/discussion. The block will start shipping in about 45 days.

Additionally, the stock LS7 is rated at 500 hp at the engine. Most LS7's will dyno (on mustang dyno) at around 430 rwhp. With a cam, header and cyl head upgrade you can get the LS7 up to 540rwhp easily. The warhawk build I'm describing is good for another 80-100 rwhp.
