Hi everyone!
I have a 1985 c4 with a interior light problem and I was wondering if anybody could help me out.
When the doors and back hatch are shut the interior lights are staying on and draining down the battery. I have check all the switches and none are sticking, but when I push down the back hatch swith the lights go dimmer, could it be a ground problem?
Thanks for reading this and I hope some can help me!!

Try disconnecting the hatch switch and see if that cures the problem, it's possible it is just that switch.

Common is the switch for hatch is out of alignment.
Hatch has a male pin that shuts down onto the top of the switch.
Over time the switch backet bends downward and now switch does not have enough travel to open the circuit.
Also ever see the mod you mount and the when hatch is closed the hatch still is open a few inches to allow airflow through inside of the car ?
They have a longer male pin and now when closing hatch that pin puts the full force onto top of switch and bents the switch bracket down or wosre breaks the switch.

The male pin on the hatch seems to be hitting the switch ok, even when I push down on the switch by hand they still stay on but go alittle dimmer than with the switch in the up position.
Thanks! still trying to figure it out!

Hello
On the head light switch you can turn the knob left or right. When turned all the way to the right it will turn on the in side lights. (mite be to the left) just turn it both ways and see it the lights go off.

I tried that and the lights got brighter when turned to the right and dimmer when turned to the left.
I'm going to try some contact cleaner on the door switches to see if that helps. Thanks for your input!

There is a dome light delay timer used on 85 vettes,it sounds like maybe this timer is bad. The purpose was to allow the interior lights to fade out after the door was closed. Could be yours is not timing out. As this is also a use of this timer do your rear hatch release switched on the doors work or not?

Yes the hatch release switches do work on the doors. Do you have any idea where the delay timer is located on the car?
Thanks!

It's behind the dash on the pass side near the computer

jump the two white wires. acts like reg door switch then. remove relay first.
