changing thermostat for a 2007 c6 160/180 [Archive]

Hi I am new here.I wanted to know if I should change my thermostat to a 160 or 180 for a 2007 c6.I went to summit racing and they told me a 160 might damage the engine over time as it would run to rich and to cold is this true as I always thought lowering the temp was good for the car and I bought the 160 thermostat anyway but scared to put into new car after what sumit said any advise would be great thanks

Thats weird, because if you look at alot of the Corvette shops that sell packages for Vettes you will see most of them offers packages for more HP and most include a 160 thermostat as part of the package?
