What is the best way to install a radar detector so that little wires are shown? I haven't bought one yet and considering the escort or Valentine. I have seen people mounting them in the center with the power cord just exposed and this is what I don't want. Is there a way to permanently wire this thing up where the power cable is not seen and I can still disconnect the unit when I need to? If you have any suggestions or install pics I would appreciate.

I have the "escort" which is cordless. I can use it for my Harley and the Vette. I also use the "mirror mount". But, I done a modification to it because it positioned the detector to much in front of my rear view mirror. I just added a piect of aluminum so to set the det. back even with my mirror. (was a pain to do but I'm happy with it now). PS I was using suction cups but I just don't like the thought of it falling on the dash. Hope this helps.

Escort and Vallentine are considered 2 of the best radar detectors?

Your original question was how to hide the wires. For this to happen all you need to do is mount the detector at a place where the wires can be hidden. For example under the dash. I don't know if there are docking stations that you can just slide the detector in and out while not having to deal with the unplugging of the wire. So with that said you might have to live with the fact that you will atleast be able to see the plug part.

Bel makes a great detector and their top of the line is undetectable by radar detector detectors....a significant issue if you live in VA or in any other state where they are illegal. Passport/Escort and Valentine perform well but are detectable by properly equipped LEOs.
The cordless solo is probably good enough due to the low radar signature the Corvette has...you are much better off in a Vette than in an SUV as far as radar detection goes. But flying unprotected is not smart, especially in VA...The Solo is a well designed unit and being battery powered is easy to move from car to bike and back...probably would work well for you.
