I have what the codes id as a lt4, ok the guy I purchased it from said it was out of a 97 vette. From what i read ls1 was in the 97. And lt4 is in the grand sport 96 vette but all the ones I,ve seen have red throttle bodies mine is not, what is this motor from?:confused:

All the factory LT4's that I've seen were of the 1996 vintage, they did come in the Grand Sports in 1996, and also could have come in the other 1996 models, ie: coupes and convertibles, (all LT4's did have the red intakes with the name plate that said "Grand Sport" even if it was not in a GS and in a coupe or Conv.) all LT4's had 6 speed stick shifts only, the LT1's in 1996 had auto or stick. I would wager to bet that you have a LT1 motor most likey.

Lets see some pictures. :D The 1996 LT1 were factory rated 300 HP at the crank, the 1996 LT4's were factory rated 330 crank HP.

ANd yes the new generation C5's for 1997 had the LS1 engines.
