I am new to this forum as well as a new corvette owner. My problem is : after getting a used 2005 convertable I had to leave town for a week and when I got back the battery was dead. Had a local dealer replace the battery and the same thing happened within a month after leaving the car sit in the garage for 7 days. Dealer says it's due to the many computers on board. Other owners say no, there is a drain someplace. I plan on taking it back to the dealer next week and wonder if anyone reading this has had the same problem. Thanks in advance for any information you can pass along.

trikmon...any good battery shop can isolate any current drain and help determine if it is bad battery or something else draining the system. I had a case once where my trunk lite switch did not deactivate when the trunk was closed; kinda like wondering if the light goes out in the refrigerator when the door is closed. Drained the batt every few days until we found the culpret...

We have been having the same problem with our '05...dead battery more times than we care to count. Have been doing research on-line and apparently, this is not uncommon. One forum noted that GM is aware of this problem. One of the fixes on the '06 model does not require the gear shift to be in reverse when the car is turned off. Apparently, this has helped, of course it doesn't help we '05 owners.
Another forum suggests shifting to neutral after the car is turned off. If you get an error message telling you to put the car in reverse, repeat the process. Have not tried it yet, since we are taking our car back to the dealer today to make sure there isn't something else going on with the car. Looking for resolution/advice from the dealer to fix the problem. Isn't much fun to own a car that we can't count on when we want to drive it!

Have had similiar situation with one of our '05's. Mine was traced to one of the amps staying on? Wasn't aware that this was a common problem in the 05's??
