: Cancun or Cabo?

Never been to Mexico and thinking about bringing the family down. Just can't make up my mind on which city to go to. It would seem the 2 popular spots are Cancun and Cabo? But which is better? Expedia.com doesn't show really stats for something like this. Also I noticed the pricing seems to be really good during the summer months? Should we expect to cook down there during the summer months, is that why the vacation packages are priced so good?

Thanks for the advice.

Been to Cancun few years ago. From what I understand Cancun has more things to do (nightlife) if you bringing your family you may want to go to Cabo.

One other question what website has the best deals on travel? I have found two websites Expedia and priceline are there any others that I should be looking at?

Expedia and Priceline are the two best IMHO, there is also cheaptickets.com

With family I would suggest Cabo

I enjoyed both places, but I liked Cancun the best. There hotels and beaches are beautiful there. The Carribean is a beautiful jade green. There are lots of activities that that you can do. I went out on a snorkeling tour where we all went out on separate little 2 person boats. We anchored off a reef and jumped into the water. Xcaret is another fun tour to checkout. They have an underground river that is truly amazing. It's sort of a natural wildlife park. At night, they have a performance to watch. There are also the Mayan pyramids that are interesting to visit.

Here is the link to Xcaret with the activities and some pictures: http://www.xcaret.com/

In Cabo, you hit your highest temps in July thru Oct and also your period of highest rainfall. Humidity can be high. During the peak summer months when I visit, it hits the mid-90's to 100F range.

Xcaret on his honeymoon. He said it
was an excellent place to vacation.

some cave snorkeling, visit the Myan
pyramids, Massages, kayaking ETC.........

I've been to both and my vote is Cabo. Its more laid back. If you are more into the party scene then go to Cancun. Either way make sure you take the scuba or snorkel tours, you will be amazed at the fish you come across. Have fun. :patriot:

Just got back from Cancun for my third time! I have gone twice with my friends to party- great party town!!! I also went for my honeymoon and we did all the touristy things- swimming with the dolphins, swimming in the caves, we went to Xcaret and we had a lot of fun. I have never been to Cabo, but I really like Cancun and it seems as though you can get 1 extra day in Cancun for the same price you will pay to go to Cabo. Also, the Cancun airport is really nice and it makes flying there enjoyable.

the beaches incancun were great but the town was more like a small us town the first thing you saw as you approached the town were burger king, macdonalds etc. and lots of bars a lot of fun if that's what you're into cabo was just a small folksy town but you have the pacific on one side and the gulf of california on the other wth the desert and mountains on the outskirts of town loved cabo and can't wait to go back thwhale watching was incredible:thumbsup3:

Lover's Beach in Cabo was the best beach I have been too. The water was perfect. It felt great just to sit in the waves. It was really pretty too.

Cancun is more for the younger crowd and Cabo is more of the family scene. I personally have been to Cabo 5 times and Cancun 1 time. Cancun was fun but I like Cabo more.

That's why you stick with the hot spots and not the deep country part.

No one has mentioned Puerta Vallarta. For my money, it's the best family destination. It has the most modern water processing plant in the whole country - American standard water, so you can drink from the tap without risk. There are a HUGE variety of places to eat, with a large variety of types of cuisine. Bay is nice, lots of shops, real city, safe if you don't go into the way back. No need to have a car - you can ride the bus or take a fairly cheap taxi. Food is much cheaper than Cabo, and IMO much better. Same latitude as Hawaii, so you get the same sun and weather.

Hi,The wife and I have been going down to Mexico for years. the place we like most is about 40 miles south of cancum, in Playa Delcarmen very nice area. I would highly recomend. Its close to a lot of the Myan ruins, Cozemel, the beaches are incredible, the people friendly, plenty of nite life, shoping. we have been down that way over a dozen times. and will be going back again this fall. had been there in august not much different than the weather we have had here this year 90s but with a nice breeze. pat.
