I'm pretty sure that those bolt right up to the front of the MAF with no issues. You will probably have to add a small filter to your AIR intake tube though. I would classify the twin cones as a "warm air" intake to be honest. You could do the shroud mod to get more cold air to them though. I have it in PDF if you want it.

I opted for the Hurricane, best bang for the buck in CAIs IMO. if I had the money I would have got the Callaway Honker...

My 02 Z06 had the Vara-Ram dual cold air intake, that goes up to the front screens, so basically as best as I can tell it is a dual inlet ram air cold intake. I like it, I think they are a little costly new, $300 or so?

Yeah they are nice! A pain to install though!

Ron check to see that you have the newer version, the older ones reportedly ingested water pretty badly and caused the engine to hydrolock.... or just don't drive in the rain! :)

It was just put on a few months before I bought the Z. From what I can see of it, it would have to go striaght in, then up, and through the filter and up through the air bridge before it could get into the TB, that is a lot of going up top think that water could go that far and that much up, but I will check into it.

Could'nt Vara-Ram be held liable for such a product causing an engine to hydo-lock?

I'm not sure about Vara-Rams liability but GM sure wouldn't cover it. I think the fears are all over exaggerated anyway, here’s some info I dug up;

Its usually standing water which gets you with the bottom breathers. Having had a Vararam on my C5 and now a Callaway Honker on my C6 I never worry or worried about driving rainstorms. Just getting into standing water in a parking lot or dip leading into a driveway or on the road.

If you look at the instances of hydrolock in the C5 with bottom breathers you will find that almost all of the cases occured in standing water.

Yeah, I really do not see it being a problem or ever being an issue with me. If the rain gets that heavy and/or deep I will pull over. After reading some of the posts on CF I see that VR did intend for some water to enter into the front vents, and then exit through the drain holes made for the water. I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just going to enjoy my ride.

1/27/2007 I read that the air intake you are thinking of installing creates a tremendous amount of air turbulance at the intersection of the 2 tubes. (see motorbooks c5 corvette, 1 800 826 6600) The result is actually less air entering the plenum!

the twin cone intakes do create more turbulence then anyother intake and some tests have show a acutal loss in hp. halltech makes a great intake and the blackwing and vararam are also very popular. all 3 are very goodt and a good quailty also, so its just up to your buget or what one you like the best. you cant go wrong if you pick one of those 3.

I have the Halltech on my setup and love it. No complaints

Those twins are for show only. Get a proven performer like Blackwing or Halltech

No one talks about the Hurricane, I have it and it's awesome!

Before you install the radiator shroud with the scoops provided in your kit, take a dremel or like and enlarge the openings in it.

Also it would pay to get a radiator screen under the car now!

Just my .02 from experience...

I've been running the dual cone K&N filters for some time now with no complants.:D
