: Gas gauge F up'd
Slvr Bulit 04-27-2007, 10:03 AM Driving to the gym the other night with a half a tank of gas, next second the gauge is pinned on empty, low fuel is showing on the dic. Does this sound like bad fuel sending units? I run 20 oz's of techron every 3,000.00 miles and only use Shell vp gas. I'm thinking of filling up with mobil and using more Techron what do you guys think?

That is an excellent question... I'm going to check a few people on my end and see if I can get you an answer! My guess would be the fuel sending unit and/or its connections. I can't image it would be the type of fuel you are running in the car?
tstar 04-27-2007, 04:43 PM Well believe it or not 9 out of 10 times it is the fuel, or rather the sulphur in it. The sulfur fouls up the sending unit sensor. Techron, Seafoam ect.. should clean it off for you, it may take several applications however.
It highly recommended to run only TopTier Fuel if it's available... Here's a Website about it;

Same problem with gas gauge- I bought gas today; gauge showed I could go 275 miles; I am driving 80 mph on Interstate. Next minute the check gauges light comes on and fuel gauge says empty. Is this sensor, sending unit or the gas? What did you find out? thanks-
Slvr Bulit 04-30-2007, 06:25 AM Here's what I did. Check your engine codes, I bet you have one that says P1432 or P1431 if you do it has something to do with fuel level sensor. Hit reset on these codes and your fuel gague should work. I did it yesterday and it worked for me. Plus I'm adding another bottle of Techron and switched gas to mobil for a few tank fulls. Let me know how you make out.

bighank 06-21-2007, 11:10 AM Had sender replaced under warranty a few years ago. 3 years later BINGO. Used Techron and Seafoam in a few tankfuls. Now it reads 15/16 when superfull and still OCCASIONALLY goes to zero. Don't want to take tank down and remove sender but that is another option. Clean sender with a pencil eraser. Not too abrasive. I'd try some more Techron like 2 bottles to a tankful and run it down very low then maybe a can of Seafoam in the next tankfull.;) BIGHANK
