I'm a new owner of a 2003 C5 and I'm trying to figure out if I want to get a exhaust for my first mod or Spray some NOS (small shot)? I have wanted a Corvette for a long time and finally have one. The down side is that I don't make a whole lot of money and I want to add more power?
So any help would be appreciated.

I'm gonna just guess, and figure your budget is roughly 1,000 er so. That is about how much an exhaust would cost, give or take a few hundred.
Anyways, if you are looking for some cheap power, you would probably be best off going with a Vararam CAI. You can get that for about 300, and it should add roughly 12-18 HP, which is more than an exhaust would. Now, with the extra 700 er so, you could probably get it tuned, or get a new flywheel (or both). With those 3 upgrades, you could be looking at about a 30 HP gain (roughly)
If you were thinking bout NO2, keep in mind, that power is not constant. It is only short bursts. So if you are wanting consistent gains across your entire RPM range, its better to go with bolt-ons.
But, if you were sure you want either an exhaust, or NO2, I would go with the exhaust. Nothing better than hearing the mean growl of your Vette engine :)

Which is what I love about nitrous. Drives like stock, yet makes monster power when you want it/need it. I retain the 30+ mpg while potent N/A applications get 20. To get as much power as I have, in any other power adder, you would be looking around 15 or so.

What kind of set up are you using? I think you already mentioned it but I just forgot!!

No question N2O is the cheapest initial HP adder. I do agree that the VaraRam and a tune would be $$ well spent though.
VaraRam's don't shine on the dyno as much as they do on the street because there is just not as much airflow over the car on the dyno. :D

The first mod I picked up was a Borla exhaust. Don't get me wrong has been a great mod. After 3 years I'm now looking at a small NOS system to have some fun with during 1/4 miles!

I would do the exhaust and vararam and tune or things of the nature first if it were me, but that is just my opinion too.
But then again I am not a bottle person either very much, dealt with that many years ago, before computers were as involved as they are now, and things used to be more dangerious too then. Now it is much safer to use that power adder for the most part. But that is still not where I am going anymore, Good luck on your decision I am sure whatever decision you make will be good for you and you will like it.

NICE!!! I've been mowing over the idea about getting a 75 or 100 shot, what did this set up run you? Did you do the install yourself?
Everybody has an exhaust...get the spray! We sell Nitrous kits now.
