Who makes the best track tire? Goodyear, Firestone, Nitto, Michelin, _______?

I would like something that REALLY sticks to the road.

Most people I know who run at the tracks are using Nittos or if it is a drag radial you are after Hoosier makes a solid tire for drag purpose, not for track.

What kind of track are we talkin about here?
What size rims are you trying to put these on?

Good point. I can't advise on drag, however on road race applic, going from a normal street tire to a "R" compound tire will make a world of difference. As said above, lighter rims are also imp as well as tire width.

R compound tires don't last as long/will be worn quickly in daily driving. The combo I use: Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, which last only 6,000 to 7,000 miles. Believe it or not, that's alot for R compound tires. I use them generally for short hops, track days and drive to/from track. For any serious street driving I use orig equip. As for rims, CCW Corsairs are probably the best affordable racing rims. If you looking for top of the line look at Fiske. IForged and other "bling" rims are great for street but too heavy on track.

If this sounds like to much hassle, the Michlin Pilot Sport PS2 is generally regarded as the best street tire which is passable on the track. Don't hold a candle to any R compound however. Big diff.

Note: I have a C5 and run 18" all around (295's front and 345's rear). I installed rear fender flairs to widen rear tires. Wide tires make huge diff in rear end stepping out after accel out of turns.
