After taking my vette out of storage the heads up display and the DIC are not remembering where they were before shut down. Is there a potentioal problem and how do I correct?

Not sure what you mean, can you explain a bit more? Do you mean the GPS system is "lost". If so it will relearn once it's outside for a bit.

I think that it takes a little time for the computer to fully remember it's job description! For example, when my battery was unhooked for a winter season, then I go and hook it back up and it could'nt remember to bring the windows down an inch when the door was opened. I think it took about a month or so for it to come back.

When the car is restarted the heads up display should display the same screen that was there before shut down. It always return to the "oil" screen. Also the milage is always visable upon restart even though it was left with different info such as miles per gallon before the previous shutdown.

The battery was NOT disconnected for the winter but the vehicle was started almost every week. Only once did it need a jump.

I take it this is a new phenomenon since it went into storage then?

Yes. All years prior the issue did not surface after storage even if the battery lost power. A jump allowed the car to start and all systems were fine.

So everything is OK now? Sounds like it was just a temporary issue then.

My response apparantly was confusing. When I started the vette last night after it rested for six days there was a slight hesitation before ignition. The clock defaulted to 1:00, the heads up display defaulted to the "oil" screen (it was displayed as fuel before last shut down) and the oddometer reading came up above the steering wheel (it was left blank before the last shut down.)

Possible weak battery? It does read 14 however when the vette is running.

I would give the battery a check with a volt meter if it has been sitting for a few days. I think many of the modules go into a reset/default mode if the battery sags too far.

Battery might have a "surface" charge as well causing the battery to sag below 8 volts on cranking. Only way you can tell is to use a multimeter on the battery while cranking the motor after it has been sitting for a few days.

If this holds true a new battery is in order? I have tried an overnight charge. Thanks for your assistance thus far.

You can always have the battery load tested to see if it's dying.

A new battery repaired the problem. Thank you for your guidance.
