I'm not really to sure about the CARB requirements, as far as I know it has to visually look stock??? I had a complete stock intake system lying around so I thought I would make a CAI kit from it that will look stock.

First I enlarged the internal air runners by cutting out the internal walls and glueing a plate to join the outer walls;

I then marked where the new runners hit the shroud and cut them out;

And added scoops to the bottom of the shroud;

Viola! A true CAI that looks totally stock and maintains the ease of filter replacement... So get hacking!!!! LOL or you can buy this one as I don't need it.

Tim,
From your profile it says your from PA... C.A.R.B. is the California Air Resources Board. They are the "Law" out here in Cali.... not sure what your emission requirements are there in PA. I use a CAI I got from West Coast Corvettes.... Cali says I have to "Smog" the car every other year... I bolt the stocker on... pass the test.. and back into the attic it goes!!!!!
:cheers:

You saved some pretty good $ by doing that, CAI are expensive but I would still wonder if what performance it was capapble of.

Well the openings in the shroud combined are larger then the MAF so I'd imagine it'll flow up to what the MAF will. but I'm not sure. It's roughly 1/3 larger then the stock setup and is drawing cold air, it might even ram it after a certain speed...

BTW I have a Hurricane installed and the stock setup was taking space so I thought I would play with it. Now I odn't know what todo with it!:willy_nilly: EBay I suppose...
