Just picked up my first Vette... 1971 small block,love it...
All is great but when driving along and I press on the brakes, my idle wants to drop below 500. I have to feather the gas a bit to get it back to 1100, 1200.
I played with the air idle mix on the holly 4 barrel and even disconnected the vacuum from the power brakes but still does it...
Major frustration

Any ideas out there?

I would check the float level, sounds like it's low. I would also inspect the fuel filter and make sure you have enough fuel flow and pressure, but most likely with a Holley it's a float out of adjustment, very common and easy to fix. Wouldn't hurt to pull the needle and seat out to inspect and clean accordingly.

I agree with PBV...float level would be 1st to check, too high and it floods when braking... move your question to tech and performance for more responses
