cyberpower99 04-18-2008, 06:54 AM Looking good Tom! Keep up the work and before you know it that baby will be tearing it up on the track!

Thanks. The next big step is to complete the fuel system hook up and fine to the suspension install. Then on to the electrical system!
ottoz06 04-18-2008, 04:29 PM That is such a good job on this car that it makes most other track cars pail in comparison. Really well done Tom. The only corvettes close to this league are Lemans ready, and they may be slower than this due to their engine restrictions. I find that I can't wait until your next update; it's been very interesting to follow this build up. I would love to see this car run flat out. Talk about Rolling Thunder, this is the real deal. Keep up the good work.
the8thwonder 04-19-2008, 06:50 AM Looking good, do you have an estimated time frame as to when you might be done with it? Paul

Thanks for the words of encouragement. This is a sort of once in a lifetime dream project for me. I’ve tried to do things “right” the first time in the building of the car, so I don’t need to rip apart or redo things down the line.
There’s only one upgrade I suspect I will be considering 1 year down the road; a sequential trans which will allow downshifts without the clutch (i.e. automatic throttle blip controlled by the new Motec computer system). That’s not something I’m ready for yet.

I am hoping to have the car on track in about 8 weeks. It’s hard to be precise about that since we end up having small engineering challenges or need to re-fabricate parts as we move along the assembly process. The good news is that most of the tough issues are in our rear view mirror.
hammatime 04-21-2008, 06:07 AM Tom, I'm pretty sure that you mentioned it somewhere but have you got an idea as to what your weight for the completed car is going to be?

I would love in to come in around 2,600 lbs. We will have to wait and see after it's all assembled.

ShockerRacing.com 04-22-2008, 02:03 PM I see the amazing work is continuing!!!! It is starting to look like a car again!
smokinvette2 04-22-2008, 02:09 PM 2600lbs, that is crazy! With all that power that is going to be so much fun to drive!! I need to take a vacation and come out to see your finished product!

tom snitzer 04-22-2008, 02:56 PM Thanks for sharing my enthusiasm. Can't wait to post more pics. We just finished plumbing the fuel cels and tomorrow start on the internal wiring/harness.
PS. While I hope to come in around 2,600 lbs. most folks have a tough time getting these down to 2,800 lbs. We will see.:drool5: :drool5:
Hellboy 04-23-2008, 07:16 AM Holy sh*t look at those tires! :hump: :hump: :hump:

Going from Pilot Sports Cups (what I used last year) to Hooser's which are much stickier should also make a massive diff! I'm initially going to use R6's and then later full racing slicks.
Speedy 04-25-2008, 05:52 AM I've been following your progress and it looks like you must be getting close there. I was discussing with me friend here, just ball park at then end, what do you think the total cost invested in that car would be?

If I start thinking about it, I'll fall over!

It's unrestricted. Ergo for fun at our local track and various HPDE events. Since I'm not sponsored, I'm reluctant to do any serious wheel to wheel racing with the investment I have in the car and bang the thing up.
