I have been looking around for turn key engines and came across enginefactory.com. I would like to know if anyone has dealt with them and what your opinions are on just buying a complete engine rather than rebuilding a used one. I have a 79 vette and would like about 400 hp. I dont have any experience doing any engine work whatsoever so i would have to pay out of my **** for the work to be done. Thanks in advance for your comments

Never heard of that outfit
but
we actually RACE crate engines in some of our cars.
They are designated as such though.
I wouldn't hesitate to run a GM crate engine on the street.

never heard of them but there are several good vendors for crate motors..I ve had experiences with Patriot Perf engines, GM Perf, and Blueprint Engines, all good choices..if you can t build it yourself, then crate is the way to go.. you can get a proven combination in the HP/torque range you want, with as much as 3 years warrenty..

thanks fishslayer. I was thinking about the 383 stroker engine with 400hp with the 700r4 trans. I believe the company has a 2 yr warranty

a 383 stroker with a 700r4 is a f**king great combo in a C3, throw in 3.73 gears..thats what I run, with considerably more than just 400hp, of course!

I've seen their videos on youtube and they seem to be a good outfit, granted I have no first hand experience. I would double check with the BBB and go from there. In the long run alot of times buying a turn key engine with a warranty can be better than building your engine by the time you add all the nickel and dimes stuff in and you have someone else to blame should it come apart.
