I plugged my cell phone automobile charger into the cigarette light socket in my 1993 LT1, and now my lighter doesn't work. I checked the fuses, and none are blown. Any idea what the problem is? Is there a reset button somewhere?

Did you look at all the points that the cell phone charger would have hit? I have to move mine around a little to get it to work. Most likely one of your contacts is bent a little.

12 volts is 12 volts. Try a voltage tester to see if there is any voltage at the center point in the lighter plug. You either have a blown fuse or a broken wire. If theres no voltage on the plug and no blown fuses, pull the dash apart to see if it is a wire. Make sure you check your owners manual for the correct fuse and its location before you tear anything apart!!!!!!!!! You may also have lost a ground. Be sure that the plug is grounded well!!

Yes volts are volts but amps are a diffrent story all together. As an example I used my laptop on a trip pluged into a voltage converter. The converter did not regulate the amperage going out and fryed my power supply. The lighter in my 87 dosent push enugh amperage to power a GPS, I haven't looked at the requirments of my cell phone.

I know all about the difference between voltage and amps. I have worked on elevators for over 20 yrs. Usually any electronics device designed for an automobile shouldn't have any problems. There may possibly be some kind of a amperage issue with the C4's. Never seen that problem before in any other vehicles.
