: Quick detailers?

Are those quick detailing sprays bad to use on our Vettes on a regular basis? Shouldn't the car be washed first? If so, wouldn't that take the need of the detail spray away?

There are not bad to use but I wouldn't use them on a dirty car. The idea is to give the paint a quick shine without apply a wax or paint sealant. They're not used to wash your car.

Tell you what, come down to our warehouse in SoCal the next time we host a detail clinic (calendar is being built now) and we can both wash your Vette and detail it with spray.

I'd agree but only if you have not had a chance to maintain your car. Dirty cars and wide downs usually end up requiring more work than otherwise since now you have to work out scratches. After driving any amount of distance your car is eventually going to need a wash - but detail spray really can do the trick.

I used detail spray probably 2 times a week on my Corvette and am always amazed how well it works. I cringe when I see people using a California Duster, I try my hardest to walk over, hand them a micro fiber towel and bottle of DS and tell them to give their car a wide down. They alway shake my hand after

:iagree: your just "whipping" off the dirt with detailing spray, where as with the water running its freely being pulled off the cars paint rather than being rubbed over it.

I like using detailing spray after the car has been detailed and shes being parked for the night.

I believe I'm just south of you? I'm in Oceanside so can't image you being further south than I am! When are you guys having your next event?

The warehouse is in Torrance so yes you are a bit south but it'd be well worth the drive :burnout:

Calendar is being built for the events.

Sword you seem to have alot of knowledge when it comes to car car, have you used SmartWax? I just ordered a bottle of their wax? Never heard of this company before which is why I only ordered one bottle. Just to see the quality? What you think?

Personally I don't like the quick detail sprays.
My opinion is they scratch the paint.

I like to wash my Vette and use Turtle Wax 1step Wax.
I wash the car first and while its still wet I spray on the 1step.
When I'm done my Vette looks like I just waxed it.
Best of all it only costs $6 a bottle.

I haven't tried the Turtle Wax 1Step but I do use
the Turtle Wax Ice and it is an excellent product!!!

I buy the detailer from Groit's Garage, but never use it until the car has been washed. I use it as an "in-between" detail/polish. I have found that I can use it to clean of the brake dust and bring the wheels back after driving. I keep it in the car when we travel, go into the hotel room, get some water & car wash in the ice bucket or trash can, clean off the bugs and miscellaneous crap with a microfiber, then detail it up as I dry it. Works wonders on the Quicksilver Vette and the Platinum Caddy.

:iagree: Personally I like Meguiars the best. I even use it on the windows the same way.

I only wash my '78 once a year and it's when it spring before the first run. After that i use detailing spray and wax my car twice in a summer. Always got great result and no water spot.
