Like I said I'm new to corvettes, I'm not new to muscle cars how ever, I'm interested in buying a Corvette but unsure what to look for and things of that nature. How many miles is to many miles? I'm currently looking at a 2004-Z06 its black, manuel transmission (I would rather have manuel but am not to picky as it will be short trip daily driver) it has about 95k miles. The car over all looks really clean minus the leather seats a little worn and its going to need new tires. The asking price is 18995 but I plan on negotiating. What is a car like this worth? My biggest question, the car is black and has two red stripes outlined by a silver stripe on each side, now the only pictures of corvettes with these stripes the car is blue and not black and is a commemorative addtion. Is the car Im looking at some kind of hack job that wanted to look like this car? Are these stripes normal? Any info and advice is greatly appriciated.

To the best of my knowledge, GM only offered the 04 Z06 in blue with silver stripes as part of the Commemerative Edition. They did not offer the car you described from the factory. I would guess a previous owner put the stripes on the car.

I owned an '02 Z06 for nearly five years and put 50,000 miles on it. It was a great car and very fun to drive. It is hard to beat the performance of a C5 Z06 at their cost. I would say the retail cost of the Z06 should be no more than $20,000 depending on where you live and the condition of the car. I sold my '02 Z06 in October 2008 with 51,000 miles on it, in excellent condition for $23,500.

Good luck with your decision.

I wasn't trying to point out the error. I just wanted to make sure that we took care of the OP with correct info.
