Ok so i know that this should probably be in the general discussion area, but since i only frequent the tech and performance this is were i wanted to ask. I have owned my vette for 3 years know and always here from others that vettes are owned by three different types of people, doctors, lawyers & old rich guys. I do not fit any of these catagories. i only know of one other guy up here in alaska that owns a corvette, and he dosent fit in the fore mentioned catagories either. So what i was wondering is what do you do. If by any means you feel that this is to personal please don't reply. I will start off...I am 37 & work slickline in the oil field.

I bought my first Corvette in 1973 at 19,a 66, 427/vert, while working in an autobody shop.Spent the next 2 decades repairing, restoring, refinishing, customizing , and racing, hundreds of them..Have owned 13 of them myself.. Currently have 2, a C3, and a C5.and intend to be buried in one. So ,no, not a doctor or lawyer..

Interesting question. General contractor here. Bought my 69 in 2004, it's 20 years my junior. First corvette, always liked them, never thought I would own one. It's been one of the greatest thrills of my life.

yeah i remember standing on the front seat of my mothers chevy love pick up and her telling me to look at the corvette it was black and shiny. from that point on i had always loved the sting ray body style. i got my first and only corvette 3 years ago for christmass, and i thought that i would never own either.

I'm an auditor for the tax commission (don't knock my job it pays the bills *barely* and has good insurance for the family and very secure ) and I also run a side job Brush Hogging with a tractor and 5' blade.

When I was about 10 or 11 I saw a black early 80's C3 and I told my brother and Dad I'm going to get one of those and they said NO YOUR NOT. Well I bought and built a 1927 Ford T-Bucket when I was 20 (I'm 30 now)had it for 10 years and traded for a 1980 C3 a few weeks before last Christmas. Haven't looked back yet. The '27 had most everything done unless I wanted to drop several thousands of dollars into it and with a wife and 2 small kids I know I can't do that. This C3 hac lots of little $100.00 items that it needs or I want to transform this into my own.

I'm a retired Army helicopter flight instructor, and for the past 20 years I've been flying helicopter EMS. Got my '75 vette just a couple of years ago, she's a 20 footer with a few things to be done yet, but hey, she's a "vette"!

Bought my first 'Vette (a '68 'Vert) in 1974. The pic. below I took 1 month after purchase. I still have it. Bought it on my own, never help from family. Was an electronics technician at the time. I am the owner of a Corvette Restoration and Service business, and have owned dozens of 'Vettes, but love sharks the most.

I am a child of the 60's, (early 60's). My father was an aircrafrt field maintnance tech for the United States Air Force, for 26 years, until I was 16, we were very close. He always had some kind of project lurking around the garage. He has been gone some 12 years now, and it is when I am wrenching on an old car that I think about him most. I have always been a car guy, and have been fortunate enough in my life to have owned and driven several cool ones, i.e. '69 Chevelle convertable, which I still own, an '86 BMW 635CSi, 1980 Fiat spyder, a Porsche 914, just to click off a few. I have always wanted to own a Corvette, almost took the plunge a few times but heald back until last April. I will never sell this car, It goes to my now 21 year old son on his 40th birthday, (don't cry for my oldest son, he gets the Chevelle). I often think about my father and how excited he would be for me, and all the wonderful help and advice he could offer if he were here to assist.

I am a Jeweler/Gemologist

Huck - I had a 76 Fiat Spyder when I graduated High School in 79, there was something about that car that made girls want to take their clothes off...

I had a 72 Vette in the early 80's. It had a worked 427 where the 454 used to sit. I had to get rid of it to keep my drivers license. I am currently working as a Satellite Communications Installation Tech and I have had my 74 Convertible for about 9 months. The C3 is the body style I have always admired.

BTW: I had my wife with me an we were riding the Blue Ridge Parkway at the end of last summer. We stopped at one of the overlooks and a young family was there looking at the beautiful view. When we drove up their 2 boys stopped what there were doing and came to check out the Vette (top down - of course). The youngest who was about 8 asked, "Mister, is that a race car?"

58, Retired USAF Missile guidance and control tech (10 Yrs), F111 Avionics Tech (12Yrs) and 10 yrs working for a computer memory chip manufacturer writing test programs, designing and building test probes.

Never wanted a vette, never rode in a vette until my wife bought her dream car, a red 90 vette in March 2010. Darn it, had to have one and I picked up my black 78 in August 2010. Now, once the 22 inches of snow melts, 2 more month of snow here, we'll both be cruisin again!!!!!

Until then :z1-2:

Ok so I know this is redundant but I here it a lot, when you guys say " vert" are you referring to a big block vette, if not what dose it mean.

I was a mechanic and auto body guy through my teens and twenties. Then I got into communications and now provide emergency communications services with a non-profit, national oil spill response company. Most of our large responses are for Gulf hurricanes, but we're still supporting the Deepwater Horizon spill. I bought my 80' in 2001 which turned into a full resto-mod and is now on the road, but there are more things I still want to change. I'm saving the body and paint for last.

I'm a 24 year old american-of-asian-ethnicity and, with the exception of myself, I've yet to see anyone with a classic/antique vette owner with non-gray hair...or a non-collard shirt.

Fun fact: The C2 (Mako I) and C3 (Mako II) body styles were inspired by the designs of a guy named Larry Shinoda.

Me too Hotrod. I spent 11 years of my life turning wrenches then went into mechanical engineering where I stayed until I retired in 1997. As a mechanical engineer I learned a lot about structural engineering and knew the World Trade Center towers were going to collapse right after they got hit. I told my wife (I was married at that time) the upper floors were going to collapse onto the lower floors and cause a chain reaction that brought the whole building down. She thought I was crazy until about 20 minutes later when they went down. Years before the attack on September 11th Osama Bin Laden studied structural engineering in the U.S. and knew what the towers would do if they were struck by full-sized passenger planes loaded with fuel. It was later revealed the U.S. government also knew what they would do but never did anything to prevent it from happening.

Good ideals are never cool, or atleast seem that way, my dyna would never keep up with the katana, but i wrecked it two years ago, ended up in the hospital for five days & out of work for 2.5 months didn't have leathers on my legs, they might have saved me some grief or they might have made it worse. Didn't wear a helmet then either but do now.
