: Going bigger on tires- how to calibrate?

I got new 19" all around MRR wheels for my vert. I am concerned about how increasing the overall diameter by about 2" will affect the speedometer.

My goal is not to keep the same overall diameter as oem. I WANT a taller tire on the 19" rim. Oem diameter is about 26.25" and if I go with 275-45 19 on the back the diameter will be 28". So I can get a front that matches and about 1/2" smaller to keep the proportion close.

I have seen this size on a non lowered c5 and it looks great. That's what I want, plus a little more sidewalk can soften the ride a little. I want to fill the wheel well a bit more.

So- my question remains: how will I recalibrate the speedometer to work with the larger overall diameter tires? Also, I believe the speedo will show that I am going slower than actual- correct?

Oh- and mucho thanks for the quick reply. I have the wheels now and I'm getting ready to order the tires.

A handheld programmer will do the trick. 28" -That's a tall tire. Be sure to post some pics of the new wheels. Enjoy your new mods!!

This works pretty good. Tells you everything including changes in speedo...

other than the dealer. A custom speed shop can calibrate
