I just purchased an old 1984 vette that had been sitting in a back yard for years. I have the ignition and the door key and cannot figure out why the Security indicator is flashing and the rear lights are flashing. How do I turn it off?:willy_nilly:

You turn off the security alarm by unlocking the driver’s side door with a key. Once the car has been locked (by any means) the only way around the alarm is to use a key to reinter.

I have used the door key several times to try turn off the alarm. This will not work. Is there any other way? I will just end up parting the stupid thing out if I cannot get it turned off. I only paid $1,500 for it but it runs so nice. Help.:ack2:

Just because the security light on your dash flashes doesn't mean the security system is going off. If I set the alarm off in my 94 it blows the horn. Also, if you can start the car the alarm is not tripped because of the starter kill.

There is a starter kill in the security feature? The starter works fine. I'll keep messing with it. thanks.:huh: :huh:
