trying to restore my 69 vet by replacing the interior, I noticed about 6-8 wires that had no connections at all. From under the console to the wires from behind the driver side. A total mess, to make matters worse there seems to be a short(go figure) that continues to drain my battery. Now the wipers run without any response from the relay switch. The car should be named Christine...I'm a novice and opened up a can of worms. The short has been going on for sometime as I have been through 5 batteries. Any charts that can show me what wire goes where?

Corvette Central sells wiring diagrams for about $15 that are printed on a LARGE plastic sheet (about 2 feet by 2 feet). As they're so large and easy to see I bought one for my '68 and my '71.

I really like them because they're so easy to read and it's all on one big white plastic sheet. As most electrical diagrams are printed on two pages in a shop manual there is no seam in between them. I always get lost when I follow a wire over to the seam because the two sides don't match all that well.

I have a link to a site you can go to that gives a schematic of the whole car, but I haven't posted enough and Smokin Vette won't allow me to post it.

Toobroke, is your diagram color coded? I just received the one I bought from MidAmerica and it is all the same color. Of course the colors are noted on the diagram but the pic on the website looked color coded...

Mine is not color coded, but like yours it has the colors spelled out along the route. I'm also a rank amature and wiring intimidates the poop outta me, but with this chart and the help of the experts on this forum I was able to replace my entire forward engine harness successfully in just one afternoon. I also had some kinda of battery draining short and this solved it! Rocinante, (my Vette) has been running like a jack rabbit ever since.

No but each wire is marked what color it is. BK means black, Y means yellow, R means red, and so forth.

Hmmm, same problem with me being too new.

Send me an email, or pm or something, and
I'll send you a link.

The wiper running by itself is a bad ground circuit. The battery drain can be isolated by pulling fuses one at a time until the drain stops. You will need to hook-up an ammeter on the battery to monitor current draw as you pull fuses. If you pull all the fuses and you still have a sizable current draw (over 100 ma) then go after the fusible links at the starter, the alternator, the bulkhead connector at the fuse panel. The fuses should be pulled first but the devices I mention after that are not necessarily in order. Good luck, let us know what you find!:seeya:

Dr. Rebuild has one for every year with and without AC.
Very easy to use and follow, only $ 20.00!
Im using one as I rewire my 69 vert.

I just rewired my '73 and the Dr. Rebuild charts are really easy to use. They are in full color and show a small photograph of the actual factory connectors. It really made it OoSoEz!
