You guys have probably heard it all before so I wont get too into it. I have loved the 72 stingrays since I was a kid and always dreamed of owning one. Well I broke down and just got an 87 vette the other day. From what I can see it needs minor interior work done, door panels are warped from being kept outside in the South Carolina sun, and it is all faded out. (Once red now pink. LOL) The drivers seat doesn’t move just right so I think I need to rebuild all the gears in it and the A/C is shot. From a quick inspection my guess is the previous owner tried to fill it himself and over pressurized it blowing the compressor. It has only 131,000 miles on it and it seems to run well and from what I can tell looking at the motor it was well maintained. (No gunk built up in the valve covers and the tranny fluid doesn’t smell burnt.)
I think it will be a simple restoration project and may lead to my 72 one day or I may even just keep this one. I’m kind of getting use to it already. I am looking for suggestions for places I can get parts for cheep, all the places I have found are so high in there prices they must be on crack. I’ll also be looking through the topics here to see what tips I can get here and there.

Welcome Aboard! :D
I'm sure some of our C4 members and vendors can steer you in the right direction. The A/C can probably be fixed with a new/rebuilt compressor. Not sure about interior stuff myself.

Thanks for the welcome's everyone. I've already found a lot of good information and tips. As for doing the work back in 87 I use to be a certified mechanic. That was before I relised it was more rewarding to fight fires not to mention better paying. LMAO

Good to have you here! What part of SC are you from? I lived in Charleston and Columbia for a handful of years, nice and warm in the summer! I am sure you will be able to find all the help you need here!

I was a Marine on PI and hated the sand fleas! I used to work right on Ashley Phosphate Rd. Chuck town was a nice place too!

Loved SC when my wife and I were there. We have family in Florence.

Well it seems that SC is a popular place! Florence was up towards Greenville? Or was that the other way on the 26?

yes the sand fleas do suck, I think they are here so people know it's not a slice of heaven. LOL Florance is north of here on 95 near the state ling. Greenville is west on 26 past Colombia.
I am only new here in SC, I've been here 3 years now. I was born and raised in RI. It is a lot nicer here than home for sure and I can ride my motorcycle year round. Got to love that. Even happier now that I have a new toy in the Vette. I got it then went to RI on vacation and have been at work since I got back so I haven't had a real chance to play with her. I should have the time Tuesday and hope to get her some nice new plates so I can take her to work Wedensday.

YEH since I live here, BIKE WEEK is kind of been there done that but I do love to ride!! I have a picture of my bike in my gallery. It just gets a little crazy when you have 350,000 drunk bikers driving like maniacs. We lost 14 bikers 2 years ago in 10 days. Not good statistics to keep our no helmet law!!!!!!!

I remember I was there that year, Helped pick one dumb *** kid off the highway. I don't drink and have been sober for almost 12 years now. I do have fun taking a day trip up for it.
