: 4 Post Lifts
chriswest 04-05-2008, 06:57 AM How many actually have a 4 post lift?
Man I'm sick of trying to do something under jack and jack stands. I know I know :nopity:
Eddie 70 04-05-2008, 12:02 PM :nopity:I am with you and understand where you are coming from. I have damn near rebuilt my 70 vette on a set of jack stands in my 2 car garage. I have always wanted a lift but could never really pull the trigger because I want to build another house with more room. Now that I have a C5 too, I really think a lift would come in handy. I have to be very careful with the ramps.
smokinvette2 04-05-2008, 02:56 PM They are very expensive. But what a great piece of equipment to have instead of just using the regular old jacks!

hammatime 04-06-2008, 06:28 AM LOL I can see it now, my wife comes home and goes to park her car in the garage only to find her side taken up be a four post lift!! With a project car already on it! I wonder how that would go over?
Performinnorman 04-06-2008, 07:51 AM I have a Perfect Park 7000. It's been trouble free since I bought it many moons ago.

We have one of these from superlifts.com in our shop and one at my dads house. These aren't too bad of a price and we usually try to catch them at the shows(bloomington gold, vettefest) and try to buy one of their show lifts to get a deal and then they deliver them fully assembled!!! I think my dads friend just picked one up from them this weekend after Vettefest!
bkemp 04-07-2008, 04:01 PM I have a Bend-Pak HD9 four post, around $2400 and free shipping
Bruce All Mighty 04-08-2008, 01:41 PM Man those of you with the garages with the 4 post, I'm jeaslous!

Good lord, how many cars you have there? Where's the Vette?

Sorry, I don't have any recent pics on my server since it crashed last year. At that time, there were 7 in the garage. I don't have many cars any more. Just two Z06s, a Civic and an S10. That pic is very old.
Mr Magoo 04-11-2008, 06:55 AM All I know is I would love to have a nice 4 post lift! Things are pretty pricey for a good one.

You can find some lifts for under $4-5,000 these days. FYI

BuriedC5 04-16-2008, 07:48 AM Whats better a 4 post or 2 post?
ottoz06 04-16-2008, 09:48 AM Has anyone here got a 4 post lift that's an arm lift, not the ramp style? I'm curious about how big of a headache it is to use the arm lift? It just seems to me that the ramp lift would be better for a parking solution (getting an extra spot under the lift) but the arm lift would be more useful as a mechanics aid. With the ramp lift how would you be able to do any service on the car that requires the wheels to be off? I'm looking for opinions from you guys with the experience of owning either style lift.
Thanks-

Most companies offer rolling jacks for the ramp style lifts that allow you to service wheels and such. They're not cheap but they're the solution to that problem.

It all depends on what you use it for. A 4 post is better for storage and for keeping the suspension loaded. A 2 post is better for suspension work and when the suspension needs to be unloaded like changing springs and tires.
BlazingC5 04-16-2008, 03:23 PM Sure, I could put one of those lifts in my garage. I'd just have to do a couple of slight modifications; cut out a hole in my garage ceiling so that my car could sleep in my son's room above the garage.:D
