I am new to corvette's in general. I went for a drive a few days ago. The outside temp was around 60 degrees and I went for a hot cruise into town to a show and back. On the way into town and the way out the car seemed to run right at 200 degrees maybe a little more. Is this normal? What is it going to run when the temp reaches 90 degrees? The car has been tuned by MTI, however I do not know what all they did. Stats on car:
Kooks 1 7/8" jet hot headers
Corsa exhaust (cat deleted)
MTI spark plug wires
VAR intake
MTI Tune (tuned for FL and now the car is in CO) I would assume that the altitude would make some difference, but in horsepower not in running temp. The computer should make the corrections to this situation. Or am I wrong?

That seems a little high in my opinion. Now don't take my .02 as the holy truth! I just know that my Z is about 10* lower, with almost the same variables.
bfbad thanks. I think it is too high too.
Anyone else think this is too high???????
Tuners is this too high?????

i think my truck is to high at 200* so if I had a vette i'd put a 180* thermostat in it just for a little peice of mind

I think the factory Tstat is 195* and the fans come on a little higher.
I could be wrong. It happens a lot since I remarried. :(

Most newer cars and trucks run hotter than the older ones. My 07 Duramax will run right at 200 in the summer and 200 in the dead of winter. My 75 stingray has a 175 tstat in it and it runs about 180 all the time.

Good point in that the engines of today typically run considerably hotter than the earlier engines.

The car is supposed to run at hotter temperatures than you are used to seeing on earlier cars. It allows the emissions output to be lower and the cats do their job more efficiently. It will always hover around 200 degrees.

The C6 has a minimum fan turn on temperature of 192 F. So if you're driving around town at low speeds a low temp thermostat won't help you. At highway speeds it will help as the natural airflow will cool off the radiator.
