Coming back from Atlanta on I 20 E on Saturday afternoon, 158 MPH. Nothing fancy, just steadily putting the right foot closer to the floor. Then I got scared and thought "people going this fast usually have a helmet on!!!" so I slowed down. I know I'm a chicken sh*t!!!. :burnout:

Faster than the speed limit but not nearly as fast as some of the speeds listed here.

I know, I got feathers.

The fastest I had mine was 165mph at 2 am. No one on the highway and the realestate was moving fast. Did not even have it to the floor. RPM's were 5500 and the car was straight as an arrow, with no vibrations, you thought you were doing 75 on the freeway.

Max tunnel vision! I've out driven my headlights before at night too, not something I would recommend for the faint of heart for sure!!!! Nor for safety either, by the time you see something in your way, you've already hit it! :willy_nilly:

The '69 when I had it, 145.
My C5, barely over 100.... but I haven't had it where I could do more safely.

187 mph...(225 shot of N20) racing my buddy in his C5 (200 shot of N20)who was doing 185 mph......
Yes, I beat his slow a$$!
But yes I know,...death wish.

Truth be told, I didn't really enjoy going that fast, too much can wrong and death will happen if something does.

I enjoy 1/4 mile racing much better, we only get up to the 130 to 135 mph's and it's a whole lot safer and controlled.

What I found unsettling was, at over 180 mph a mile will go by in around 20 seconds, and you need a lot of room to bring her back down. Cars that look far away come up very fast. You don't want to hit your breaks too hard either, but Dam was my heart beating fast. Just had to do it.

Roger that, I didn't have the balls to hit my brakes, wasn't sure what the car was going to do, I kept picturing my brakes exploding.....lol
I just let the transmission slow the car down to 160'ish then very gently applied the brakes.
No doubt, was a something one must do at least once. Not really a whole lot things in the world that can replace that particular feeling.

Fastest I've gone was 125mph, test driving it on I-285 in Atlanta with the salesman. He was about to SH*t himself. I was laughing.

But Junkman has the right idea. Cruising in the vert with the top down talking to the hotties is a better rush to me than speed.

Was going to try & air it out I was in 3th.hit 106 mph & I said to my self that I wasn't going to air out that night & there was not enough road for me ! Hwy 287 N. is not straight to many curves. I like the straight line myself..............................:patriot:

You know, you guys in Texas have I-40 that runs through the pan handle. When I drove through Texas in the early 90's, that was one desolate straight stretch of road. You could easily hit 187mph there without worrying about any curves. Is it still that way?

Honestly 100 - 125 is kind of a snooze in the C5 because it is so stable at speed. Start getting higher then that and tunnel vision starts setting in and your nerves wake up and you feel an adrenaline rush... close to the top end and you get edgy cuz the car will float up on bumps and you know... just KNOW that if something went wrong or there is something on the road up ahead you just bit the farm. The engine is screamin, your blood is screamin, the wind is screamin and if you had a passenger, they would be screamin too!

There.... did you feel it?
