: Exhaust options for 1998 Automatic?
chase98 04-04-2008, 06:49 AM This will technically be the first mod I will do to my '98. I know a couple name brands (Corsa and Bassanni) that I have heard but know nothing about the parts that they make.
So whats the good, bad and ok exhaust systems out there? What will give the most power, sound the best, last the longest?
I know you get what you pay for so I'm not going to ask which is priced best.
Appreciate your help. - Frank
ezrider4u 04-04-2008, 10:33 AM There is also Borla, BB, Magnaflow, and many others. Honestly the exaust question comes down to how loud do you wanted/can handle from your car. Power wise depends also on wether you want a compete or just cat-back system. Some of the systems can be very loud in the cabin and produce a drone in certain driving conditions-like mine. Others just sound loud under heavy accelaration- again it's all about the individual. Personally for my taste the Borla is not so bad, others find it annoying.
I've heard good things about all brands and also bad so opinions are like *ssholes, everybody has one.:smack: Claims regarding exhaust range from 15-40 hp from the install.
ShockerRacing.com 04-04-2008, 10:48 AM Are you looking for a really loud exhaust or just something with a little more rumble than stock?
tstar 04-04-2008, 01:36 PM GHL is pretty sweet too!
chriswest 04-05-2008, 07:04 AM Your being pointed in the right direction. The big boys and exhaust favorites are Borla, Corsa, B&B, Bassani. It really just depends on how loud you want things to get? All are really good exhaust but all have a unique sound? For example I know on Corsas site they have sound clips you can listen to. Try finding sound clips to narrow your search.

A little more rumble than stock!
Lethal Tendencies 04-05-2008, 11:22 AM You want to go with Corsa or Bassani if you want something better sounding than stock.
jagged 04-06-2008, 05:02 AM My suggestion would be to go with the Corsa Pace system.
Louder than stock and no drone.
ShockerRacing.com 04-07-2008, 07:05 AM I agree with these guys if you want just a little more rumble. The Corsa pace will give it a good sound without being too loud in the car(unless you get headers and no cats and a Convertible). I am surprised with how loud they are on the Convert! I also am a really big fan of all the B&B exhausts. I had the Bullets on my C6(really loud) and the B&B PRT's on my Z06. I think you would like the Route 66 for your application. :iagree: the best thing to do is listen to some of the sound clips these exhaust manufactures have.
Performinnorman 04-09-2008, 08:18 AM Another low cost option is to buy a cat back from a Z06. I have installed countless ones on non Z06s. Light, performance gain and inexpensive. You can usually get them for about $300 give or take.

Where are you finding these at? I'm interested. I would like the Corsa system put I have had a few set backs this past month and have to look at where and what I'm buying now. :banghead:
Black Label Vette 05-05-2008, 11:49 AM If you are looking for a good sounding Cat Back and
you are on a lower budget, you can take a look at
these. I installed a set of these on a 98 w/ automatic
and they sounded very similar to the Borlas. I believe
these are the same as the Granatelli's.
