Here’s the latest update. Finally getting most of the internal plumbing done.

1 1/16 inch (3/4 inside diam) stainless steel hoses for oil delivery, via Dailey Drysump system:

Now on to complete hook up of fuel cells. The suspension systems is a couple of weeks away from completion. Will post that next.

I'm having a blast building this project. Can't wait to get it out on the track and road race this beast!

I barely know what I am looking at when I look at your car, but it sure looks like it's going to be fun when she's done!!:hump:

The car I'm building is for road race use only. Not street legal.

The improvements you are looking at are designed to keep the engine lubricated while road racing. A normal street Vette has an under mount oil pan which provides oil to the various engine parts. That's fine under normal driving.

On a race track, when you pulling high G's consistently for 20+ mins at a time, the oil typically gets pushed to one side of the pan during turns, which means that the engine is often starved for oil as the intake for the oil delivery is located in the center of the pan. When the engine is running hard and can't get oil, that's not good!

Racing engines are usually set up with a "dry sump". There is no pan, so to speak, rather there's a large oil tank (13 qtrs) from which oil is injected and circulated thru the engine. That keeps the engine lubricated at all times and requires a very powerful pump as well as huge stainless stainless steel oil lines to keep the oil flowing quickly.

The C6 Z06 has a dry sump, which is fine for street driving & occasional HPDEs, but not really designed for the rigors of hard core track use.

I can't wait to see the finished product and I am sure I am in a large filled boat with others when I say that! That is such a cool project, and I can only hope that one day I might be able to start one myself albeit not that big!:drool5:

When will it be ready? You going to post some dyno pulls?

We should start dynoing the engine in about 2-3 weeks. The only rub is that a road race car with a race computer (Motec system) is set up differently.

We use an engine dyno, not a chassis dyno. Essentially we pull the engine from the car and run it at each throttle position to have the computer adjust the optimal air fuel fixture. For example we run the car at 10% throttle at 1000 rpm, 2000 rpm ...to 7,000. Then we turn up the resistance against the engine and do the same at 20% throttle and repeat at varying throttle positions up to 90% throttle. The idea is that the computer determines the optimal air fuel mixture based not only on rpm but on how hard your jumping on the accelerator.

The engine which is NA will run at about 13/1 compression. We should be able to make 700 hp I suspect. The idea is to build the engine to have great low end torque and to run all day long without overheat issues.
