I have a 98 w/65M miles. Have taken it to an A/C guy 2 months ago who found nothing wrong and just added a small amount of freon. problem is the driver side vents do not put out the A/C, but on the passenger side it is coming out icy. And no i do not have the driver side temp turned up. Since both sides can operate somewhat independently it appears there is a problem with the driver side control?
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
After the freon was added both sides worked fine. But now is not working correct. I thought I may just have a leak (although A/C guy could not find one) but now think it may be something else, since the passenger side still works.
Ideas?

Look under the battery tray for acid damage.

Because of the way the system feeds refrigerant into the evaporator coil when there is a decrease in refrigerant volumn in the system there is a tenacity to only feel the cooling effect on the passenger side. I have a leak and have been topping my system all summer and will have to find the leak soon.

That's for air not coming out of the vents correctly. The Vacuum line gets ate through and you can't change the mode from face, to feet, to defrost.......you get the idea.
Check your DIC codes and see if you have any for the HVAC. Most times, when this happens, it's the drivers side actuator that is the culprit.

try looking at the servo motors for the vent doors ...if they don't work, NO air hott or cold will be getting thru the vents or it will be the the wrong temp. air U desire.
