After a long wait for the right time and $$$ to be available I finally got my car upgraded. I picked it up on Saturday the 29th and it blew my mind !!!
I had the work done at Atlanta Performance and Fabrication in Acworth GA. Not as large as some other shops I attempted to contact by email and phone to get the work done but these guys were the only ones to actually call me back and see exactly what I wanted out of the car. Then William, said he wanted to run some numbers and match some recommendations and the CALLED ME back again with the info. WOW, he called me more than once. Here is the lowdown:
I started with a 98 C5 A4 2.73 rear end basically stock except for the Borla catback already in the car when I bought it in May of 06. The car had 126K on the odometer; dynoed at 291 RWHP / 303 RWTQ. This was a bit disappointing but the guys at ATLPF told me that these numbers were about right for a 10 year old car at such high mileage.
This was the work done to my car (all engine, suspension I'm doing locally) some was recommended other stuff I pulled out of my rear end at the last second and these guys got it done:
Heads- Trick Flows 215 CC
Cam- Comp Cams custom grind- 232/238 114 LSA
RPM Level IV Transmission
RPM Rear Diff- 3.42 Gears
ProTorque Converter- 2900 Stall
BBK Intake Manifold w/80 MM TB- this will go away soon plus it was doing some quirky stuff during tunning. I have also find it very noisy, I thought I could live with it but under accelaration the tapping resonance is annoying. This be replaced by an LS6 intake. I should have listened and done the LS6 fromt he get go but I bought it and wanted it on. Lesson learned.
Kooks 1 3/4 " headers w/catted Y Pipe- I need this for emissions
Vararam Air Intake
New Valve covers
LS2 Timing Chain w/new front cover
HV Oil Pump
Adjustable Roller Rockers / Hardenned Push Rods from PRW
New set of Head Bolts and Gaskets from GM
160' Thermostat
New Gatorback belts- very nice
GMPP plug wires- the RED ones :-)
Plugs - NGK-TR 6s
New Oil Press Sensor- finally I have an accurate oil preassure reading.
and of course tunning
 After all of this was said and done , car hit the dyno on the 28th of March. Current numbers: 424.1 RWHP / 387.5 RWTQ. I will be going back to the shop for the intake/TB swap, tweaking on the tune and inspection now that the 500 mile break in period is about to pass.
I can't wait to take it down to the strip and see the results on the ground. I can tell you that I've been adjusting to how the car drives now in comparison to stock. This car will smoke the tires without me intending to do so. In looking back, the only thing I wish I would have invested on would have been maybe a new short block.:)
